โจNatural hair tips to minimize breakage while detangling โจ
โข Detangle hair with a conditioner that has slip. Common ingredients like Behentrimonium Chloride or Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Slippery elm, Marshmallow root, fatty alcohols, give a product great slip, it coats the hair shaft and form a film which makes detangling easier.
โข Finger detangle to remove knots, then use a wide tooth comb to further detangle.
โข Work in sub sections which evenly distribute the conditioner and helps with hair manageability.

Did you know that cotton is very drying and damaging to your natural hair?
Cotton is moisture wicking and also produces a lot of friction, using cotton material on your mane is very damaging. The cotton is absorbing the moisture from your hair which leads to dryness; making hair prone to breakage.
Try implementing these suggestion below in your natural hair care routine to help retain moisture and protect your natural hair โ
Natural hair tips for moisture๐ฆ and length retention โ
โจDetangle hair when it is damp; never attempt to detangle your natural hair when it is dry
โจMoisture gives hair elasticity, which makes it more manageable and less prone to breakage
โจApply a leave in and or spritz hair with water ๐ฆ Aloe Vera juice ( in video I lightly spritz hair with Aloe Vera juice)
โจGently detangle hair starting from ends to the root. Finger detangling is recommended first then use a hair tool - brush or comb for your hair type.
โจ Seal in moisture with a light oil or butter which helps to preserve moisture and protect hair. ( I used the ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ค๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ซ My Majestic Beauty๏ธ to seal in moisture)

Every hair type or pattern is beautiful, good hair isnโt defined by texture but rather by the health of the hair.
If your hair doesnโt naturally curl, styling the hair through various hair styles such as braid out, twist out, Bantu knot, perm rod sets, etc can give you the desired look.
Tip: For a more defined twist out set hair when it is damp in smaller sections. For more volume set hair in bigger sections.

Everyone has their reasonsโฆ.
About 10 years ago I began my natural hair journey. I decide to stop relaxing and coloring my hair for various reasons. โMy experiencesโ with relaxer hair treatment was unfavorable. Although I went to the hair salon to get it treated by a professional I was still experiencing adverse reactions from the chemicals in the relaxer. I have very sensitive scalp, however the stylist would use relaxer intended for my hair type, but unfortunately the results was still damaging to my hair and scalp. I would oftentimes experience scalp burns from the relaxer which caused my hair follicles to become thin and fragile, making my hair prone to breakage. Over the years my hair became very thin and wasnโt retaining length from being over processed. But the ultimate reason to stop processing my hair with relaxer was my health. With so many research surrounding chemicals found in hair relaxers which can interfere with hormone function and also linked to increased risk of breast cancer, I knew I had to stop. It wasnโt worth it.
I began the transitioning process and stop going to the hair salon for relaxer touch up for my new growths. It was very challenging managing two textures, the perm ends and new growths. I wasnโt pleased with my hair; it wasnโt thriving as I expected. I decided to do a BC (big chop) cutting off all the damage perm ends and starting fresh. Thanks to my husband for his support and cutting my hair for me.
I continued to embrace my natural hair and learned how to care for it. I was falling in love with myself again. Cutting my hair was one of the most liberating experience. I remembered feeling a weight being dropped. It was much deeper than hair, it was years of my tainted perception of what beauty is and fitting into society standard of beauty lifted of my back. I didnโt need my hair to be โboneโ straight, or hair extensions to feel or look beautiful. I felt fierce, beautiful, confident and liberating in my natural beauty.
YouTube became a platform for tips, techniques, and information how to care for my natural hair. Researching and testing products for my hair type was trial and error. Learning the the benefits of each ingredients for different hair type became an interest quickly which led to my passion for the natural hair community. I also paid keen attention to labels and ingredients how my hair would react. Now here I am today formulating my own products, and will continue to perfect my craft. As the saying goes โGreat things take timeโ and I am a firm believer of that!
Years ago when I started this natural hair journey it wasnโt easy. When I did the big chop with just about 1 inch of hair left on my head. I received so many negative feedback because of my decision; I was appalled but then I realize these women were projecting their insecurities and I couldnโt let that stop me. Fast forward today I am teaching my daughter princess Abigail ( how can I forget to mention she is one of main reason) and many women how to care and love their natural hair, to embrace their natural roots. To truly embody and believe God, his word said you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Artificial beauty is only masking the true beauty beneath. It goes beyond hair, itโs revealing the inner beauty that is the truest expression of who you are and not what society depicts.
Natural hair isnโt a trend; itโs a lifestyleโฅ๏ธ
