Golden Gate Mixers
A mixing & mastering collective based in the SF Bay Area
The amazing UK pop/jazz singer/songwriter/harpist/visionary Lucinda Belle was in-studio with McKay this week plotting collaborations, Atmos production, and proper English tea strategies.
From McKay: The great Ben Flanagan, singer and bass player of Black Map, was in today knocking out some final vocal ad libs for a straight up hit song, y’all! You should definitely follow this guy on Instagram and beyond. He’s crazy talented! His solo record is rollin’ out very soon. I got to co-produce this monster single, and mix and master it in stereo and Dolby Atmos. I can’t wait for this one to come out! He’s creating some fantastic synth pop, perfect for fans of The Weeknd and other retro vibes that I also dig like The Fixx.
Also, check out his 3-piece rock band Black Map. They are fantastic! I got to mix one of the songs on their album, Melodora, in Dolby Atmos (“Super Deluxe”). We’re excited that the album has over 1.2 million streams on Spotify so far!
I found out that Ben is originally from NC like me. Small world, music is!
Cassette transfer/remastering weekend for at . Some of these tapes are 30 years old!
McKay’s Atmos mixing and mastering adventures features in Mix magazine and Recording magazine 🔊🔊🔊 If you’d like to read the interview, type “McKay Garner Atmos Canvas” into Google. Have a great day!
