shikastagī meñ bhī kyā shaan hai imārat kī

ki dekhne ko ise sar uThānā paḌtā hai

Even in ruins, the building has such grace,
That one has to raise their head to see its face.

शिकस्तगी में भी क्या शान है इमारत की,
कि देखने को इसे सर उठाना पड़ता है

The Lakkar Wala Burj is a historical monument located in the Sunder Nursery complex in Delhi, India. The complex is a large public park that was originally built in the early 20th century as a British colonial nursery for cultivating trees and plants. The complex has since been restored and transformed into a popular public space, featuring numerous gardens, water features, and historical structures.

The Lakkar Wala Burj, which translates to "the tower of the woodcutter," is a circular tower that stands at the northeastern corner of the complex. It is believed to have been built in the 16th century during the reign of the Mughal emperor Humayun, and was used as a watchtower and guard post during the Mughal era. The tower is made of stone and stands about 15 meters (50 feet) tall, with a diameter of about 6 meters (20 feet).

The tower is named after the Lakkar Wala Bazaar, a nearby market where carpenters and woodcutters would sell their wares. The tower is thought to have been built to provide a vantage point for monitoring and protecting the market, as well as the nearby tombs of Mughal-era nobles.

Today, the Lakkar Wala Burj is a popular attraction for visitors to the Sunder Nursery complex, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding gardens and historic structures. The tower has been restored and is open to the public for viewing
