What is the latent phase of labour?
The latent phase is the very beginning of your labour and is a time when it is best to stay at home where you can relax and stay calm. We know that being relaxed in a familiar environment where you can rest, eat and drink is likely to make this phase of labour easier.
This phase may last 24 hours or more and so it can tiring for you and your partner. Some women will have backache and cramps or contractions that may last a few hours which stop and start up again the next day.
During the latent phase of labour the muscles of the uterus start to contract and soften the neck of the womb(cervix), preparing your body for active labour.
Further information about the latent phase of labour will be posted soon.
Beth yw'r cyfnod tawel yn ystod yr esgor?
Y cyfnod tawel yw cychwyn eich esgor, ac mae'n amser y mae'n well i chi aros gartref, ble gallwch ymlacio a pheidio a chynyrfu. Rydym yn gwybod bod yn ddigynnwrf mewn amgylchedd cyfarwydd, ble gallwch ymlacio, bwyta ac yfed yn debygol o wneud y cyfnod cyntaf or esgor yn haws.
Gall y cyfnod hwn bara 24 awr neu fwy, felly gall fod yn flinedig i chi a'ch partner. Bydd rhai merched yn cael poen cefn a chrampiau neu gyfangiadau a all bara ychydig o oriau sy'n stopio ac yn ailddechrau'r diwrnod wedyn.
Mae cyhyrau'r groth yn dechrau cywasgu ac yn gwneud ceg y groth (serfics) yn fwy meddal gan baratoi eich corff at yr esgor.
Mi fydd mwy o wybodaeth am gyfnod tawel yr esgor yn dod yn fuan.
