It was a humbling week for the team. The usual start date for the Ride 2 Remember was delayed for the funeral of TPS Officer, PC Hong.
A shortened distance brought us to Ottawa, where we joined our brothers and sisters to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you to the groups that assisted us, Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Police Association, Springer's Meats Inc, Ancaster Cycle, Relay Coffee, Nine-O ,and to those individuals that supported us. We could not have done it without you.

We were fortunate that we could honour our members and members of the policing community once again during our annual local memorial ride.

Riding home today one of our riders picked up a nail, effectively ending their ride. They called the great staff at Ancaster Cycle. Not only did they have the tire in stock, but they helped get them to the shop and got them and had them back on the road quickly.

This is just one of the many reasons to support small local businesses. The relationships you form!

A few of our members got out with the NCCH's Youth Program on Monday night. While we are still waiting to see the photo results from the relay race, it was great riding with the future of cycling! Thanks for having us National Cycling Centre Hamilton - NCCH!

Thank You to Hamilton Police for coming along for a ride and talking road safety with Team NCCH & Team Hamilton. We hear that the team relay was hotly contested

Well another New Hope Community Bike Shop Everesting challenge is in the books. Our eight riders did a total of 176 laps and climbed 17,122m! Thanks to all our sponsors and those that helped us out, including Cheryl Balog and her daughter who fed us, and Randy Carter who takes amazing pics. See you next year!

14/10/2021

This Saturday October 16 we will be participating in the New Hope Bike Shop's Everesting Challenge fundraiser. While we may not be dressed like this, we will be climbing up Fifty Road... a lot. Come out to cheer us on with your best mountain climbing attire, a bell to ring as we pedal and support this worthy cause.

On Tuesday September 14, we were able to get together and ride in our second annual local memorial ride. We were also thrilled to be able to make a donation to Bike for Mike!
A special thanks to all of our support crew that helped us do this ride safely and well fed, as well as THQ - Team Headquarters for our awesome memorial kit.

Early morning commute. Thanks THQ - Team Headquarters for making great kit for us year after year!

A great day to get some mileage on the legs. And a great day to go to Kerrys St James Street Eatery for some coffee and tarts!

Our thoughts are with our Toronto Police family.

The Ottawa police just endorsed cyclists riding two abreast - Canadian Cycling Magazine 17/06/2021

This may be a bit controversial, but the Ontario HTA doesn’t say riders can’t ride two abreast and actuall says they can take a lane if needed. Additionally there is case law permitting riding two abreast. This endorsement of common sense by the OPS is well reasoned.

Today our members rode in support of Bike for Mike as well as the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation. Two great causes - one helping needy Hamilton children learn to love cycling and the other remembering officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to all those who supported us today!

We will be taking part (individually) in the annual Bike for Mike rode on May 2. This great cause raises money and gives bikes to children in need in Hamilton. Help us help them introduce the sense of joy and freedom that biking brings! www.bikeformike.org

A reason we ride. Gone but not forgotten.

Line of duty death in 1968. Acting Sergeant J.Cameron McMurrich was beaten and shot to death with his own gun.
Five individuals were charged with his death. At the age of 34, he left behind a wife and four children.

One of the reasons we ride is to honour those who go before us. Today, Constable Hovingh of the OPP made the ultimate sacrifice for his community. Thank you for your service Marc. You shall not be forgotten.

With the current pandemic, the National Police Memorial and the annual Canadian Police Memorial - Ride to Remember are not taking the same form as usual. Today, we were fortunate enough to ride around the City in which we serve, in memory of those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

The R2R and Memorial may be cancelled this year, but that doesn't mean the training stops. Thanks Kerrys St James Street Eatery for some great coffee and terrific bagels!

A great destination ride to New Limburg Brewery. Thanks for welcoming us and allowing us to enjoy your amazing products and patio! And thanks THQ for the masks that keep us safe and allow us to visit small businesses!

Police from across Ontario gather on the first Sunday of every May to honour those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in Service of the province. With our current pandemic, we are not able to be together to remember. So this year, to help honour the fallen, we are posting pictures of the HPS Cycling Team in our Canadian Police Memorial - Ride to Remember kit. "Heroes in life".

We haven't posted in a while. The situation that everyone finds themselves in is something not experienced by many in one hundred years. Events are being cancelled. Our training rides are all occurring online from the safe distance of our own homes.
Remember, this new norm is temporary. We will be back outside pushing the mileage with each other soon enough. For now, ride solo, be safe and healthy.

25/03/2020

Thanks Bike for Mike! We are looking forward to riding with you again in October!

These fine folks represent some of the emergency services in our great city. They continue to work tirelessly to help Hamilton through this crisis. Let's celebrate some of the heroes making a difference for all of us. HPS Cycling
