𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙖 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩?

I was a cashier at a Walgreens, and a guy ran in and went all the way to the back. I didn't think anything of it, I just thought he had to p*e or something.

Then I heard our pharmacist yell over the overhead radio microphone “Take whatever you want, just don't hurt me!” The guy came running back through the front AND LOOKED RIGHT AT ME. I locked eyes with him for a split second, but immediately looked down.

He sped away and some girl ran in screaming that he had shoved her out of her car and driven away. By this time, I was on the phone with 911, and relaying what information I had. Once the police got there, I hung up with 911 and we locked the store down.

The guy had jumped our pharmacy counter, robbed our pharmacists of opiates, then ran out. Come to find out, the girl whose car was stolen was his girlfriend and co-conspirator, and he just left her in the parking lot. She was arrested there at the store, and he was arrested that night in the trailer park beside the store.

It was definitely big talk for the next few days. LOL.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂?

My first husband passed away in January, 2001. My daughter was 16 at the time, in 10th grade. I permitted her to take a week and a half off to grieve, but getting homework assignments from her teachers.. When she returned to school, her history teacher told her that she had a report due that day. She had not been made aware of the assignment, as the teacher had only given it a week prior. The teacher told her. “ Well, you should have been here when it was assigned. “ She told her that her father's death was not a good enough excuse for missing class. She came home in tears. I called the school the next day and spoke with the principal. He agreed that the teacher had been out of line. The teacher was made to apologise to her in front of the class, and was written up for being insensitive. I asked the principal if I could schedule a grief instructional seminar for the staff, and he agreed. The seminars still happen every year. I also spearheaded a grief counseling group, headed by a wonderful hospice nurse. It still exists today in that school. Not really policy changes, but changes nevertheless.

My adult son (28) who lives at home with us refuses to clean his room even when asked multiple times. It's not that he's rude about it, he just seems incapable of completing the task. What do I do?

Having just cleaned out an entire house that was destroyed by a full grown adult… My ex… To the point of structural damage and more… I would just go in and do it myself and then charge him money for the time that it took. Find out what housecleaners charge in your area and charge him the same per hour. Unless there’s more to the story like he has depression that needs to be treated by a counselor or something like that… And even then, I think I might still do this. But also get him help.

What was the creepiest thing you overheard in the dressing room?

At the end of a performance that hadn’t gone particularly well, as a senior cast member (in terms of responsibility and age, not the part I was playing.), I was one of the last to leave the boys dressing room after checking everything was tidy and all costumes hung up etc.

As I passed the girls dressing room, the door was open and the light was off. I heard our director, Susan in the dark talking to herself. She was only about five years older than me and she was saying “Susan, you’re not a bad person, you’re not a bad person Susan…” repeatedly.

I scurried away quietly and never said anything to Susan or to any of the rest of the cast. It troubled me for a long while - still does, in fact. I hope whatever her demons were that day, she got past it.

She’s still a theatre director and owns her own theatre and is the one person other than my family/foster families that I have known for a very long time - over 30 years now. I still go and see shows she puts on if they interest me and am always made very welcome.
