We're getting nostalgic and revisiting some video from our time as artists in residence at Metro Arts.
We asked some of our great friends, Rosa Guitar Trio along to improvise with us for our first activation, and settled on the idea of dedicating it to the now defunct Norman Park ferry service.

We were joined by our friend and colleague Hannah Reardon-Smith for a Thursday morning dawn activation for flutes, viola and clarinet. We particularly loved the colour of the bass flute in this early morning setting!
This activation was part of our Metro Arts residency at the Ferryman's Hut in Teneriffe.
Sounds from the Ferryman's Hut: Day 9 π
Last Tuesday's dusk activation was a semi-composed improvisation for violin and soprano saxophone shared with the steady stream of runners, cyclists and commuters of Teneriffe.

As the sun sets on the final day of our Metro Arts residency at the Ferryman's Hut in Teneriffe, we find ourselves reflecting on how much we'll miss listening and making sounds on its little porch by the river.

It's the final day of our Metro Arts residency at the Ferryman's Hut in Teneriffe, and it's a gorgeous afternoon! We'll be doing our final activation between 3-4pm today, featuring hits such as Water Dragon (Green) and Song for Dogs. π¦π

Our special guest for this evening's dusk activation is Andrew Tuttle! Join us at 5:30pm at The Ferryman's Hut for an hour of music for guitar, violin/viola and sax while the sun sets. Bring along camp chairs or a picnic rug to make yourselves comfortable in the park as we play from the porch.

Sounds from the Ferryman's Hut: Day 7 π
Today we were joined by Kayleigh Pincott and Brodie Mcallister for our mid-morning activation. We played "Teneriffe Bingo" (a new game piece by Flora), "Rivertones" (a new piece by Luke), and a improvisation on open and closed sounds guided by Brodie.
Our next activation is at dusk on Tuesday 13 April, 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

Yesterday, we had our first dawn activation at the hut - here's a snippet! We loved watching the sun rise across the river and playing along with the dawn chorus. There'll be one more dawn activation this Thursday 22nd April, 5:30am - 6:30am - stay tuned to find out who our special guest will be!

Yesterday we were joined by special guests Rosa Guitar Trio for a dusk activation, sharing "Ferryman", a cell-based semi-improvised composition inspired by the movement of ferries on the river, alongside an improvisation titled "Ode to the Norman Park Ferry" as the sun set.
We'll be sharing a snippet of video later today, as well as our guests for tomorrow's mid-morning activation at 10:30am.

Today we started to develop some of the musical ideas we explored yesterday into works - one for flute and viola, and one featuring the guest artists we'll have joining us for Friday evening's dusk activation. We also had a lovely chat with a Teneriffe local who gave us some fascinating insights into the history of the area.

Today we went for an early morning walk down to Powerhouse Park to do some field recording, reflected on last night's improvised activation, and have been exploring cell-based composition ideas in preparation for this Friday's dusk activation. Sounds from the Ferryman's Hut: Day 1 π
Today we set ourselves up in the space, did a little listening exercise, sounded out the space with an improvisation for flute and viola, and went for a walk down to Powerhouse Park and back to explore nearby sound environments.
If you're joining us for our first public activation this evening at 5:30pm, you might like to bring along a raincoat or umbrella as there's a bit of drizzle about. Feel free to bring camp chairs if you'd like to sit in the park and listen!
