Re: Ozicar bans 2 drivers for intentional wrecking in their F4 series
As part of the announcement from Ozicar on Tuesday 21st June 2022 that they had permanently banned 2 drivers due to multiple incidents on track including instances of intentional wrecking, references to ANZLA were made suggesting that we had the power to enforce a community-wide ban upon the drivers in question.
We wish to make clear the following points:
1. Ozicar has currently chosen not to be a part of ANZLA, and as such the announcement was made without any consultation - members of ANZLA were present in the race server and post-race review process, and offered to advise the other members of what had occurred on Monday night (prior to the announcement on Tuesday morning); and
2. As a voluntary discussion group, such a wide-reaching ban is far beyond our capacity and authority to ever do, regardless of the circumstances in question. Such a decision would also go against the manner in which ANZLA does and will continue to operate in - a discussion group first and foremost that enables participating league admins to act as their opinion on any particular incident determines they see fit with respect to permitting or preventing a driver from participating in their own league.
We also do not condone any behaviour by members of the community that contravenes the iRacing Sporting Code, notably Section 2.1.1 (and subsection 2.1.1.1) and the expectations established therein regarding respectful behaviour from all community members and the right of all members to be able to provide constructive criticism.

Why was ANZLA created?
The Australia-New Zealand Leagues Association (ANZLA) was formed in 2021 as an open discussion group for league admins, primarily for detailing incidents (be they on track, or off track - in particular, conduct towards admins and other league drivers) that resulted in severe punishment by a participating league so that their fellow league admins could be alerted to the incident and consider applying their own penalties or restrictions upon the driver/s in question.
Is there such thing as an "ANZLA decision"?
ANZLA, given this goal of fundamentally being a discussion group, does not and will not act unilaterally to enforce a decision upon the participating league admins. If an admin participating in ANZLA has come to a different opinion on a particular incident, then they are free to take any action (or lack thereof) in line with their opinion with respect to permitting or preventing a driver from participating in their league.
Is ANZLA's member list closed?
ANZLA is open to league admins who wish to participate at all times! Leave this page a message telling us what league you run so we can send an invite to the Discord server we use for communicating with the participating admins.
