Byron High School Girls Wrestling takes the mat with a roster size of 19 this season. Coach Ryan Radke and his Byron crew have been great with providing opportunities for girls to begin, learn excel and enjoy the sport as they help to grow the numbers each year. Congrats!

Maxwell Petersen is the 2021-2022 MSHSL state champion at 145! Maxwell becomes Byron first 2 time state champion!

Update from day 1 of the state wrestling tournament.

Maxwell is onto the semi finals.

Unfortunately Jake, William, and Carter lost tough first round matches and are eliminated from the tournament.

The Bears finish their team season tonight going 1-1 in the Section 1AA Team Tournament. Byron beat Pine Island 58-16 and lost to Albert Lea 53-18. Individual Sections begin next Friday. Winning the Varsity Hammer was John Paul Lorentz🔨

Our girls wrestled in an all girls wrestling tournament in Pine Island today! Grace Pereda finished 5th, Rachel Fode finished 4th, Ionee Jurrens finished 2nd. Also competing was Hattie Mathre. All the girls wrestled some tough competition and fought hard all day! Way to go ladies!

Byron loses 31-43 to the Goodhue Wildcats in our last HVL Dual of the year. Winning the JV Hammer was Owen Yennie and for Varsity Beau Lorentzen.

The Bears wrestling team had a tough day wrestling in Kasson at the Swalla duals but battled in each dual! Jake Thompson earned his 75th career varsity win. And Maxwell Petersen was named to the all tournament team!

Big dual tonight and senior night tonight vs cannon falls! Would love to have the gym filled with fans. Jv start and 6 and varsity at 7! Come support our team!

The Bears go 1-1 tonight losing to Mayo 42-24 and beating PEM 37-30. Winning the JV Hammer were Grace Pereda and Rachel Fode. Winning the Varsity Hammer was Carter Geerts.

A good day for ! The Bears take 2nd Place as a team. In addition Maxwell Petersen wins the Outstanding Wrestler Award AND he collected his 200th Win💪. Maxwell becomes the first wrestler in Byron Wrestling to get 200 wins! Congratulations!
