PQ-REACT: Post Quantum Cryptography Framework for Energy Aware Contexts | Proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security 02/08/2024

🚨 Publication alert!

A new paper in the context of the HORIZON Europe PQ-REACT project has been presented at ARES '24: The 19th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security and published in the ACM Digital Library on July 30, 2024.🎉

The paper, titled "𝐏𝐐-𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐓: 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐬", outlines the objectives and framework of the PQ-REACT project, which aims to address the forthcoming transition from classical to post-quantum cryptography by designing, developing and validating a framework for a wide variety of contexts and domains of use.

📌 Abstract:
Public key cryptography is nowadays a crucial component of global communications which are critical to our economy, security and way of life. The quantum computers are expected to be a threat and the widely used RSA, ECDSA, ECDH, and DSA cryptosystems will need to be replaced by quantum safe cryptography. The main objective of the HORIZON Europe PQ-REACT project is to design, develop and validate a framework for a faster and smoother transition from classical to quantum safe cryptography for a wide variety of contexts and usage domains that could have a potential interest for defence purposes. This framework will include Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) migration paths and cryptographic [...]

✨ Exciting News!

A few days ago, on the 9th of July, Assist. Prof. Evangelos Markakis, the Principal Investigator of Pasiphae Lab, presented the developments of PEMEA (Pan-European Mobile Emergency Application) and its impact on emergency communications during the IEEE COMCAS Conference 2024 - Microwaves, Communications, Antennas, Biomedical Engineering & Electronic Systems and specifically during the Panel: 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that was organized by Mehmet Ulema and Doug Zuckerman.

🎯 Prof. Markakis explained how PEMEA supports various digital forms of communication between citizens and emergency services, including audio, video, text and data exchange. By creating a standardised network that connects various Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and application providers across Europe, he highlighted how PEMEA addresses the challenges of application roaming and stressed the importance of such innovations for increasing public safety.

** Pasiphae Lab is a proud associate of the PEMEA Consortium since 2020, an architecture that solves the problem of localized emergency applications by allowing mobile applications to provide accurate location and user information to the correct emergency answering point, irrespective of where the user has roamed to.

Pasiphae Lab participates in the EU-funded Sunrise project, under the auspices of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. The Sunrise project aims to address the significant challenge of preventing cancer through behavior changes in adolescence, a critical period where many risk behaviors are initiated. Focused on Europe, the project will co-create, implement, and evaluate an innovative digitally-enhanced life-skills program tailored to the socio-economic, cultural, and environmental diversities of adolescents. The program will integrate evidence-based digital solutions for smoking prevention with novel interventions like peer social media campaigns, advertising literacy training, educational games, and social robot platforms. Utilizing schools as living labs, the project will involve various stakeholders, including educators, adolescents, parents, public health experts, and policy-makers. The program's effectiveness will be assessed across 154 schools and 7500 students in eight European countries, including socially disadvantaged groups. The evaluation will consider both the methods for achieving long-term health behavior change and the implementation strategy for solution adoption and multi-country sustainability.
