A little writing break for coffee on the porch. I'm amazed that I can see the sun through the pollen haze overtaking North Carolina this week, but I'll take it!

Know how some authors have to light candles or turn on music to get in the mood to write? I just have to make a steamy cup of coffee in my cute cyanide mug from , and I'm in the mood to make murder happen.

Her name is Darla.

She got a new outfit this Halloween, but I didn’t know what size t-shirt to buy her, so she rode around in the shopping cart with me in the baby section at Target.

Apparently seeing a skeleton trying on new clothes gives the shiny-cheeked new moms the creeps, but Darla and I had a great time. She even got a new tutu because she wanted to look fancy for the trick or treaters.

I'm more than a little bit excited about this. It's never too early for Christmas movies.
