Adam Moserri, Chief of Instagram, recently posted a video to Instagram and Twitter outlining the future of the app.

He announced that the focus of Instagram will now be on these four key features:
1. Creators
2. Shopping
3. Messaging..and the bombshell that has everyone buzzing is...
4. Video

He said that Instagram is "no longer a photo-sharing app."

Creators and businesses need to be smart and take Moserri's advice to pivot content to better fit with Instagram's new ideas. If not, they'll be left out of the frame.

What's going on? For almost a decade, marketers have used Identifiers For Advertisers (IDFA), that are unique to each Apple device user, to monetize and customize online advertising. Facebook advertising in particular has grown into a powerhouse using IDFA and generated close to 84.2 billion US dollars in ad revenue last year alone.

The iOS 14.5 update is making waves as it will apply an 'opt-in' scenario for users to decide if they tap "Allow Tracking" or "Ask App Not to Track", potentially leaving valuable holes in marketing data.

So what do you do now? Here's two tips to adapt:
1.Web-based campaigns should have audience expansion enabled on remarketing and customer match campaigns.
2.Look closely at the Comparing Attribution Windows feature in Facebook Ads Manager to see how many purchases come through within one day of clicking versus seven. This will help you decide whether to optomise for one-day clicks vs. seven-day clicks (each option contains different data for opt-in vs. opt-out users).
