The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 9th! We are so excited to see everyone. Preparations and training are happening for school staff!
The Shelby County Public Schools Board of Education met on July 18, 2023, at 5:00 pm for a special called meeting to discuss the amendment of the school calendar for 2023 - 2024.
Recently, public school administrators met with city and county officials over concerns about the Luke Bryan Farm Tour at Mulberry Orchard in Shelby County on Thursday, September 14th, 2023. Due to an influx of tourists, traffic congestion, and safety concerns, it was recommended that Shelby County Public Schools cancel school on September 14th.
The board of education took this under advisement and voted tonight to make September 14th a staff workday. In order to make up for the missed day of school, all students will attend on Friday, September 22, 2023, which was previously scheduled as a Personalized Learning Day.
Therefore, students will NOT attend school on Thursday, September 14th. Students WILL attend school on Friday, September 22, 2023. The board meeting scheduled for September 14, 2023, is also canceled.
A new calendar will be added to our website and a hard copy will be sent home on the first day of school with students. Attached to this post is the Amended 2023 - 2024 school calendar. Please share with friends. This message went to parents and school staff this morning via email.
