Why do magpies steal?
1. Magpies value what we value and seek to possess them.
2. Magpies suffer from hereditary kleptomania.
3. Magpies are attracted to shiny or bright objects.

Neera or coconut sap tastes like very sweet tender coconut water. In its fresh form it's an invigorating health drink but after fermentation it turns into palm wine.

Is Italian spaghetti 🍝 originally eastern?

The earliest mentions of spaghetti and other kinds of pasta are present in Marco Polo's The Description of the World (1298). It is said that Marco Polo introduced spaghetti to Italy after spending 17 years at the court of the Chinese Emperor Kublai Khan. Even if spaghetti existed in Italy before Marco Polo, historians believe it was introduced to Italy by Arabs travelling from Central Asia.

Mead is one of the oldest a****lic beverages in the world. An Indo-European drink, it's Indian equivalent -- some would say source -- is the honey-based drink Madhu. The madhu in madhupaan and madhushaala originally referred to a mead-like (or beer-like) drink made of fermented honey.

My article "Sense-making and Intensification of Affect in the Production and Apprehension of Sound. The Idea of Exo-brain" answers these questions and makes the novel proposal of Exo-brain. Have a look!

Sense-making and Intensification of Affect in the Production and Apprehension of Sound. The Idea of Exo-brain In this paper I examine the process of getting affected by and the process of making sense of non-language sounds and propose the idea of the contextual cognitive apparatus or exo-brain. We are affected by a singing voice even when we do not fully understand the sounds produced by it. When the liste...

Quality of Life and the Experience of Context 10/10/2022

My article "Quality of Life and the Experience of Context" is now available on arXiv.

Quality of Life and the Experience of Context I propose that quality of life can be compared despite the difference in values across cultures when it is experienced at the sensory and perceptual level. I argue that an approach to assessing quality of life which focuses on an individual's ability to organize his or her context by perceiving posi...
