Startup India, under DPIIT, has launched the "Pitch Forward" initiative to empower women entrepreneurs with a platform to help them connect with marquee investors.

The program is

☑️Open to all women-led startups across various stages, regions, and sectors, including ClimateTech, FinTech, Retail, E-Commerce, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and more.

☑️Selected startups will have the opportunity to pitch directly to leading Venture Capital funds such as Avaana Capital, Indian Angel Network and more

☑️Eligibility Criteria:
The startup must be DPIIT-recognized.
The startup must have a female founder or co-founder with a majority ownership stake.

Application End Date-10 SEP, 2024

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is currently piloting the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), a new platform aimed at providing "frictionless credit" across the country, as announced by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

This initiative seeks to reduce the time taken for credit appraisal, particularly for smaller borrowers in rural areas, by facilitating the seamless flow of digital information, including land records, from multiple data providers to lenders.

ULI is expected to cater to large unmet demand for credit across various sectors, particularly for agricultural and MSME borrowers

Just like UPI transformed the payments ecosystem, ULI is expected to play a similar role in transforming the lending space in India.

Govt extends interest equalisation scheme until 31st August for MSME exporters, which was earlier June 30, 2024:

Equalisation of interest for MSMEs extended to promote the country's outbound shipments This extension retains the same terms and conditions as the existing scheme.

The Interest Equalisation will be capped at Rs 1.66 crore per IEC for the period from 1st July 2024 to 31st August 2024

About Interest Equalisation Scheme:

Exporters get subsidies under the Interest Equalisation Scheme for pre and post-shipment rupee export credit.

Through the scheme, banks provide loans to exporters at reduced interest rates, and the lenders are thereafter compensated by the government.

The scheme was launched nearly a decade ago to reduce stress among exporters, particularly in labour-intensive industries and MSMEs.

Currently, the rate of interest equalisation for merchant exporters for 410 identified products and 3 per cent for MSME manufacturers.

ᴍꜱᴍᴇꜱ ꜰᴏʀ ᴋᴇʀᴀʟᴀ’ꜱ ᴍꜱᴍᴇ ꜱᴄᴀʟᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴍɪꜱꜱɪᴏɴ (ᴍɪꜱꜱɪᴏɴ 1000)

The Scale Up Mission initiative by Government of Kerala is aimed at uplifting 1000 MSMEs in the State into businesses with Rs. 100 crore turnover within four year.

Launched in April 2023, by June 19 2024, 255 applications were received, and 149 were chosen based on their evaluation scores and will receive various supports, including:

Capital Investment subsidy: Capital Investment Subsidy up to 40% (maximum Rs. 2 Cr)

Interest subvention for working capital loans up to 50% of the interest rate (limited to Rs. 50 Lakhs)

Financial aid: Up to ₹1 lakh for preparing a detailed project report for scaling up.

Special aid: For technology upgrading and skill development.

This Scale Up Mission project provides a unique opportunity for MSMEs in Kerala to upscale their businesses and reach new heights of success.

2024-25 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐬: 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

The budgetary allocation for MSMEs in 2024-25 remains steady at Rs 22,137.95 crore, identical to the 2023-24 estimates. This is almost the same since the last 3 years. However, this is an 8-fold increase compared to FY 16.

Here’s are few new/ interesting/to be watched for:

➖ Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS)

Last year’s upper limit of Rs 5.25 lakh crore loans was supported with Rs 14,000 crore budget allocation, but actual cover reached was Rs 3.86 lakh crore. This year’s budget reduces ECLGS expenditure to Rs 9,812 crore while increasing the loan cover limit to Rs 6 lakh crore. It could be a signal of credit improving or just for Show & highlight. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞.

➖ New Credit Guarantee Scheme
Aims to facilitate term loans for MSMEs in 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 without the need for collateral or third-party guarantees.

➖ New Credit Assessment Model
Introducing a digital footprint-based scoring system to enhance traditional credit eligibility assessments.

➖ Employee Linked Scheme
Designed to incentivize hiring skilled workers, though its complexity may warrant cautious implementation and adoption.

➖ PM Vishwakarma Scheme
An almost new scheme with a substantial allocation of Rs 4,800 crore is aims to strengthen and nurture the Guru-Shishya parampara or family-based practice of traditional skills by artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools.

☑️The 45 day payment to MSMEs rule of MSME Act to be abolished or increase timeline upto 180 days
☑️Section 43B of Income Tax introduced last year mandated companies to make payment to MSME vendors within 45 days to claim deductions, otherwise companies forfeit the right to deduct those expenses from their taxable income.
☑️Relaxation in mandatory TReDS platform

While

MSMEs represented by Councils and Chambers are strongly raising the voice not to change the 45 days payment rule as it helps in timely cashflow to the MSMEs.
