Makhadzi and her record label Open Mic are demanding the withdrawal of allegations made by Kicks Sportswear pertaining to her stealing the footwear company's intellectual property 's idea.
Recording superstar Makhadzi and her record label Open Mic are demanding the withdrawal of allegations made by Kicks Sportswear pertaining to her stealing the footwear company’s intellectual property.
Makhadzi and Open Mic have threatened to take legal action against the company if it does not comply with their demand to withdraw the allegations that she stole the company’s idea to start her shoe brand.
Kicks Sportswear’s demands are contained in court papers filed in the Pretoria High Court in response to the R8-million lawsuit instituted by the sneakers brand company against the two for breach of contract.
The company, which produces the sneakers, called Kicks Kokovha, is suing the singer after she failed to wear the sneaker at her gigs and shoot videos promoting the brand.
In the combined summons, which the company obtained against the songbird and her stable in the same court in June this year, Kicks Sports Wear said it received information about the artist’s lack of interest to promote the brand because her team was stealing its intellectual property to use it to “produce her own range of shoes”.
“The plaintiff received confidential information that the second defendant’s disinterest in the agreement and campaign stems from her team stealing the intellectual property of the plaintiff’s idea and using it to produce her own range of shoes,” reads Kicks Sports Wear’s summons.
Makhadzi and Open Mic who are now demanding the expungement of the paragraph from the combined summons, stating it was “scandalous and harmful” to their reputations.
Makhadzi and Open Mic Production also said they intended to bring an application to strike out Kicks Sportswear’s action as an irregular step but before taking that step, they wanted Kicks Sportswear to remove the cause of complaint

Here is my story. I am a lady aged 25 based in Pretoria. In 2019 I met a guy and we fell in love. He told me he had just broken up with his baby mama and his emotions were still a bit unstable. I got patient with him until he became stable. He asked me to move in with him and I did. In January 2020 his baby mama dumped their 2 year old child at our gate. I had no choice but to quit college in order to take care of the child because my boyfriend is working long hours.
Last week I woke up to pictures of my boyfriend and baby mama at their lobola ceremony in his hometown in Limpopo. He lied to me that he was taking the child to visit his parents. It turns out the reason he asked me to move in with him was to be the child's nanny while his baby mama was at varsity. She's doing her last year this year. My boyfriend and baby mama bought a house in Centurion and they are staying there with their child. I'm left alone in a flat I've been sharing with him since I moved in. I asked him why he did what he did and he said he will answer to God when he dies. I'm now suicidal and don't know what to do. Please guide me.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says it's unfortunate the US issued a terror alert for Sandton before speaking to local authorities.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has criticised the US, saying it jumped the gun by issuing a terror alert for Sandton, Johannesburg, before speaking to local authorities.
“It’s unfortunate that the US government issued that type of warning without having had deep dive-type discussions with us,” said Ramaphosa on Thursday.
Speaking after meeting Spain’s President Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, Ramaphosa said law enforcement agencies were “working around the clock to verify and look closely” at the message from the US embassy.
“We were able to engage [the US] to understand precisely where this warning or information came from.
“We are doing that because warnings such as those cause panic among our people and South Africans should be best informed by the South African government,” he said
