Yesterday, we were privileged to take part in the SSI Community Day at the new Tweed Valley hospital. Our task was to help build the rock walls surrounding the beautiful reflection park. It was truly satisfying to see the project come to life after three years of extensive community consultations. The South Sea Island Reflection Park will honour our SSI history and acknowledge the dedication and lasting influence of our island ancestors. We are thrilled to be a part of something that future generations can cherish. 🌺🌺🌺

The South Sea Islander community is invited to the Tweed Valley Hospital site to place the final stones on the walls of the park that is dedicated to recognising the history of the South Sea Islander people, and their connection to the hospital site.

The threat of rain didn’t deter us from our annual Christmas luncheon today at Cudgen creek. 🌺 What a fabulous day with friends, family and all the kiddies! Not to mention a special Thankyou to the Cudgen Rural Fire crew for bringing the big man in red to surprise the little ones!!! 🌺 We are so grateful for your ongoing support. What a busy year it has been for our association, and it doesn’t stop there…a lot of exciting things happening in the new year, following what has been an exhausting yet productive year of our efforts to preserve, share and acknowledge our proud South Sea Islander heritage in the local community. Thankyou to all who has supported us along the way. 🌺 Have a safe and happy Christmas from TVSSIC. 💜

Unfortunately we have had to postpone our Christmas luncheon due to this unpredictable weather. It has been moved to next Saturday the 10th of December. Same place, same time, same information.
