Dialogue Society Leicester

Today, we had a deeply inspiring presentation on remembering the Bosnian Genocide and exploring the stages of genocide. The event concluded with an engaging game for our guests, reinforcing the importance of awareness and prevention.

Today, we attended the COS (celebrate our similarities) program, which was titled ‘Time For Global Impact’. Our young Dialogue Volunteers talked about the Dialogue Society and discussed our activities with COS at De Montfort University.

The students, along with some parents, from Spring Educational Society’s weekend school had an inspiring presentation of our “Life of a Chickpea” project yesterday, which was accompanied by some delicious Noah’s pudding whilst learning more about the British values.

Today, the Women-Only Speaking Club, organized by Shama Women's Centre and Dialogue Society Leicester, had another exciting and wonderful session. Everyone is invited to join our speaking club, which takes place in the first week of each month on both Tuesday and Thursday.🗣️🗣️

We recently completed a 90-minute first aid course with our young dialogue volunteers. At the end of the training, we received a certificate of completion.⛑️⛑️

Our exciting project 'Life of a Chickpea' has made its way to Leicester, inspiring young minds with the story of a chickpea and British values! 🚀 Today, we had a fantastic time at Buswells Lodge Primary School, presenting and discussing with students about what they would be if they were a chickpea.

Women’s faith forum, what we can do to tackle the problems and conflict that occur towards women of different faiths that may be cause of the ongoing conflict in the middle east.

It was put together by Marsha de Cordova the member of parliament of Battersea, there we women faith leaders and members of other charities.

We all came together to talk about how we can increase community cohesion amongst women of different faiths and what is already being done for this purpose.

We had the privilege of attending 'This is Who I Am' at De Montfort University—an insightful journey into the real-life stories of asylum seekers in the UK. Through rehearsed readings and engaging Q&A sessions, we gained invaluable perspectives and deepened our understanding. A heartfelt thank you to Jemima who is the project coordinator for ‘SDG16 project Atifa’ at DMU for the invitation to this impactful event.

Wednesday's Faith in Focus session was a warm exploration of Unitarianism, led by the friendly and informative Arek Malecki. The conversation highlighted the welcoming nature of the Unitarian sect, emphasizing the diversity of ministers from various faiths at their Leicester church. A truly inclusive community.

Arek gave us a deeper understanding of Unitarianism and was very happy to answer all of our questions.
