NY Gov. Hochul continues housing push as Dem lawmakers make clear they want different approach The governor journeyed to Westchester on Wednesday to champion her proposals to help build 800,000 new housing units over the next decade as lawmakers made clear they’re eyeing a very different approach.
FOLLOW UP ZOOM MEETING
MONDAY, March 13th, 2023 – 8PM
SAVE 1-FAMILY NEW YORK –
To All New York State Residents,
Apologies to those who did not show up to the Zoom meeting on Tuesday night due to the initial mistake on the date…that won’t happen again!
Here’s a quick summary of what happened at the meeting:
Approximately 100 people attended the Zoom meeting, representing the same coalition of organizations and municipalities from Queens, Staten Island Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester. Our initial discussion centered upon whether we should put together a bus caravan to Albany on either Monday March 20th or Tuesday March 21st in order to rally and have a press conference on the steps of the Capitol Building, followed by a lobbying effort of all elected officials. After taking a straw poll, only 20 to 25 attendees could commit to attending either day, resulting in a relatively small turnout. The goal of our action is to have a showing of organized strength against Governor Hochul’s Housing Compact, and it did not look like this would be the answer.
After significant discussion and numerous excellent ideas proposed by a number of the attendees, a number of points seemed to be the best course(s) of action:
1) Create a “digital rally” that will directly target ALL elected officials in State Government (and local government as well)
2) Hold a week of in-person rallies/pressers, one in each county (Queens, Westchester, etc.) per day starting on th. This potentially will work well, as there are already several planned for that week. Alternatively, hold simultaneous rallies in different counties on one day.
3) Culminate in a combined rally/presser in front of the Governor’s office in Manhattan (3rd Avenue & 38th Street) one week later on th or th which will occur just before the budget process ends.
To finalize our plan of action, we will have one more Zoom meeting on Monday, March 13th at 8pm.
Please register at the link below if you wish to attend the meeting.
See you on Monday!
Best,
Paul

Election time - WRITE MY NAME IN!! We need representation in political offices, that work for us! Not an elected official that does whatever they feel like doing. We need a voice that we hear fighting for us! All I hear are crickets.
Please sign this petition and share it.
CALL Governor Hochul and your elected officials. (Petition has their info) They are too quiet about this Upzoning. Please do it today!!
The young people that you all put in office or work for the Governor are pushing for this destruction of our community in the name of “affordable housing”. These young inexperienced elected officials do not understand that upzoning leads to displacement of black people and our middle class neighborhoods. All they want to make are rental units. This legislation is an investor’s dream. There are plenty in SEQ already, and more being built on Jamaica Ave. Up-zoning our neighborhoods is NOT needed everywhere, as is proposed.

🛑Important!!! Are you for OR against NYC homes adding additional apartments in their yards? Basement and attic apartments? As I campaigned, there were very little people that wanted this legislation. Especially not homeowners. I must have missed the meeting where the officials that work for us, asks us, what we want. 🤔

My comment: 👉🏾FYI, I’m totally against it. This will change the character of all our communities. You complain about no parking now? This will not benefit the homeless or your relatives, just investors. Homes will be more expensive for our kids to buy and taxes will go up, quality of life will go down. Tell me who’s buying all these two family homes going up currently in our single family communities? Outside investors and are they renting at low rates? No No No.
Also, the Not for profits pushing this are benefiting by building the units and advising homeowners. If you don’t want this then make sure you let your elected officials know this will be their last term because they are not serving their current homeowner constituents. 😡

Stop electing politicians that are self serving with no CIVIC community record in our community prior to running. This is what we get when you just follow the unions, without following our civic leaders. 🤔

Dear SEQ,
I’m taking some me time after the past few weeks running for city council and continuing our fight against an increase in The waste transfer bill Int 2349-A. Thank God, it was pulled yesterday👏🏾 but I had to write this.
Thank you to all the Jamaica, Queens and SEQ residents that had to work and could not attend the rally, but signed the petition.
We shouldn’t have to do all this extra work in our community to keep it clean and safe. Self greed over community. Stop voting the wrong people in! Don’t listen to unions when you go to vote, they don’t know better than community leaders!! It’s not like the other candidates would not back unions, so unions supporting one person does NOT make sense. We are not voting for homecoming Queen or king. Wake up already. You all have 2 years to understand this. Hopefully this new council person will get the message. We didn’t vote to make someone a celebrity. You work for us!! The fight is not over so we will need you to sign the petition if you haven’t already and let your current council member know that the false claims that rail will be better is not going to work. The money/budget our elected officials were going to throw at this rail, need to be put into our community for our kids.

When will results be certified?
Election results will not be certified until all ballots are counted including absentee, military, affidavit and emergency.
When to expect results?
June 22, 2021 Unofficial results at close of polls
June 24, 2021 Random draw and audit of election scanners
June 28, 2021 Canvass begins for absentee and affidavit ballots
June 29, 2021 Preliminary RCV round by round elimination Report 1
June 29, 2021 Last day to receive an absentee ballot
July 6, 2021 Preliminary RCV round by round elimination Report 2*
July 9, 2021 Last day to receive ballot cures – tentative
*Preliminary RCV elimination rounds will be conducted and reports released every Tuesday until election is certified. Final election results cannot be certified until all ballots are counted. Certification date will be scheduled upon completion of State mandated audit of central ballot scanners used in canvass.
🟥When will we get final results?
Likely not before the week of July 12. This year, due to absentee ballots and Ranked Choice Voting, it may take longer than usual to know final election results. It's also possible that candidates who are leading tonight, after partial 1st-choice results are released, will not ultimately win once all votes have been counted. This is a normal part of the counting process. Every vote deserves to be counted safely and securely. Learn more about the Board of Elections' plan for processing ballots and releasing results.
Election Results timeline:
Tonight: The Board of Elections (BOE) will release 1st-choice rankings from early voting and Election Day. These results will not include absentee ballots. They will also release all in-person results from non-Ranked Choice elections.
June 29: The BOE will release full Ranked Choice results for in-person votes. These results will not include absentee ballots.
July 6: The BOE will release full Ranked Choice results for in-person votes and all absentee ballots that have been processed.
The BOE will then release updated results each week until winners have been declared. To find election results, visit the Board of Elections' website.
Absentee Ballots
Results from absentee ballots will not start to be released until a week after Election Day. This is because the BOE can accept absentee ballots through June 29 (as long as they were postmarked by June 22). Once they receive all absentee ballots, the BOE must confirm that no voter who submitted an absentee ballot also voted in person. If they did, their absentee ballot becomes invalid.
In addition, the BOE must give voters an opportunity to fix their ballots if there is a curable error, such as a missing or incorrect signature. This can further delay reporting results for some ballots. For these reasons, election results released tonight will not include absentee ballots and will only include in-person votes from Election Day and early voting. Learn more about voting by mail.
