If you work from home or are attending classes from home, it’s likely that you’re spending a lot of time sitting in front of a computer screen.
If you had to guess, how much time do you think you spend in front of a screen on an average day? Remember TV counts as screen time too!

So often, we go through our days completely distracted and inattentive to the sensations and feelings of our bodies. A body scan is an opportunity to check in with your body and pay close attention to any messages that it’s trying to send you while encouraging the release of excess tension.
Basically, you’ll lay down and bring your attention to one end of your body (your head or your feet) and slowly move and refocus that attention up or down and along the whole of your body.
Has anyone here tried body scanning? If so, share your experience in the comments!

When you’re struggling and feeling like your whole world is turned upside down, stick to your version of a basic routine:
- Go to bed and wake up at (roughly) the same time each day
- Prioritize nourishing meals and dedicating meal times away from the computer/phone
- Stay hydrated
- Move your body and stretch your muscles
What does your typical baseline routine look like? Share in the comments.

Making new friends is hard. It’s even harder if you struggle with social anxiety, are introverted, or don’t feel comfortable meeting up with people in person.
A good substitute is finding an online community of people. From Reddit forums to Facebook groups, there are millions of niche groups for everything and anything you could think of.
Begin by searching through the “Group” section of your Facebook and discover what communities you might enjoy being part of. The beauty of these virtual groups is that there’s no need to put yourself out there unless you want to—you can also stay a wallflower for as long as you want and still feel as though you’re a part of something bigger.
Are you part of any virtual community groups? Share your suggestions in the comments!

If you wake up feeling either groggy and irritable or anxious and frantic, try waking up a few minutes earlier than usual and dedicate that five minutes of time to a short and sweet gratitude practice.
While you’re still in bed or after you’ve gotten yourself up and walking around, spend five minutes naming a list of things that you’re grateful for. Don’t overthink it!

In a world where reliance on technology is at its highest, you may think that connection would improve, but technology and social media gives us a false (or different) sense of connection. More people are working remotely, outside of the typical social office setting, and our lives seem busier than ever! So, the question becomes—How do we make the time and find energy to foster new relationships and deepen our social connection with others?
Have you found ways to do this? Share in the comments to inspire others!

Studies have shown that people who are social improve their longevity, decrease inflammation in the body, and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. When we’re surrounded by others (even virtually), we're constantly learning from their perspectives and experiences while developing and growing our own identity, which is dynamic and ever-evolving.
Have you ever experienced a decline in your health due to lack of social connection? Share in the comments.

If you’ve been having issues with intimacy, it may be because you’re feeling high levels of stress that are keeping you from opening up and letting yourself be vulnerable.
To combat this stress, it’s important to equip yourself with tools to destress and bring calm and happiness to your daily life, such as going for a leisurely walk, listening to calming music, or investing in a creative outlet like coloring or doodling.
Prioritizing stress relief can help you re-focus your energy on fostering intimacy in your relationships, whether romantic or otherwise.

Be mindful of your intake of stimulants and depressants such as alcohol, caffeine, and sugar. Too much of any of these things can wreak havoc on your stress levels.
Try to avoid caffeine and sugar in large amounts, especially in the second half of your day (before you go to sleep).
Additionally, if you’re someone who uses alcohol to cope with stress, try introducing new methods for self-soothing. Alcohol can deplete your energy both in the short- and long-term, mess with your hormones, and contribute to systemic inflammation that can lead to many chronic health issues.

Boundaries are the internal set of rules that we establish for ourselves. They outline what behaviors we will and won’t accept, how much time and space we need from others, and what priorities we have.
Having a healthy set of boundaries are essential because they help us determine how we respect ourselves, take care of our well-being, and ultimately make decisions that affect the rest of our lives, including both short- and long-term decisions that impact our stress levels.
Can you think of any changes you can make to cut excess stress out of your life that also help you create healthier boundaries?
