Andrew Lehman Merton School Board

I am a parent of 2 boys within the Merton School District. I will be a conservative voice for the community.

My name is Andrew Lehman and my wife Britta and I have lived in Merton for just about 5 years. We moved from Sussex to give our kids more space to play and be kids. We have never once regretted our move to Merton. We have two boys, Sam (8) and George (6) that both attend Merton Schools. Additionally, Britta is involved in the Merton PTO. Sam is in 2nd grade, loves math and science and someday wants to be an engineer with his brother, but only in Florida… in an underwater lab. George is in 5K and loves Maker Space and playing with his buddies. Most days he likes the idea of working “with” his brother, but not in the underwater lab as the sharks might eat him.

As a family, we are members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Pewaukee. We work hard to instill a strong moral compass and work ethic in our kids. We raise chickens, have a large garden in the summer and hopefully our apple trees will start providing us with a fall harvest soon. We also enjoy the outdoors: hiking, fishing, hunting and swimming.

I began attending School Board meetings in July of 2020 when our District, like many others, began discussions about what the new school year would look and feel like for our kids. I felt it important then, as I do now, that we as parents make our voices heard. We needed to stand up and deliver a message that our kids needed to get back in school for in-person learning.

Over the course of the fall and winter, I have attended just about every school board meeting and have spoken at many of them as well. I’ve advocated for increased communication from the board during this time, asked questions on how they are addressing the numerous concerns parents have about potential Covid related shut downs and how exactly they are making decisions. I’ve stood up for the people of the district when a member of the School Board openly suggested that someone other than the School Board make “LOCAL” decisions for us.

I will be a conservative voice for the community. I will vote to keep our kids in school for in-person learning. I will vote to keep our curriculum to the highest standards in all the primary subjects that our kids need to be successful - reading, writing, math and science. I will vote to be fiscally sound with the funds that you as taxpayers provide to the district.

That’s it; win or lose I’ll do these things. It’s not complicated…..I just need your support.
