Dumpster Pickers

What happens when a trucker makes a run to take products from one place to another but because they are 30 mins late the grocery store doesn’t want it any longer? Store considers it trash and decides to chuck it. What does a trucker do? Well he calls who he knows to come get as much as you can. My moms friend got a pallet and my mom was going thru neighborhoods giving ham and turkey away. Smoked, Peppered, mesquite, honey you name it. What gets me more upset but sad is how many people are struggling to just get ham or turkey for lunch and or dinner? I know we struggle. Hell today we had 9 bucks till payday and literally bought one of these brands for sandwiches earlier today at the store and for these stores to just throw it because of 30 minutes! My mom has her second load and she is trying to fit it all in a second fridge to give away. All unopened boxes all in expired and still cold from being in the trailer. This is just sad

Found some goodies. Cushion for the b***y. Ms. Lulu is testing it out. Some mops you can see in the back ground a very fluffy doggy bed which cats love and will use once. Nothing is wrong with it some pet food and hamster like wood chips I guess for them to naw on.

Never pass up water in the dumpster. Lot of the times they are thrown because the packaging is broken or one is missing. Bad for them good for us. We needed water. Then there is beer also never to pass up 😂. Found goodies for all food for cats and dogs glow sticks beer water snacks.

A while back we found a bunch of bath and body work products. This was just in time for Christmas so a lot of family and friends got Bath and Body Works products. Till this day I have a huge box of broken candles that I have been melting and re making them into tea cup candles or mug candles.

WHERE HAVE WE BEEN? It is a year that we have posted here on Facebook and YouTube and now we come to not only check in but also to ask for help.
So what happened. Well first we got burned out mentally and we took a break to just mentally get better. What didn't help as well is that a lot of the dumpsters we pick were getting locked, were getting hit first before us, and or the contents were being destroyed by employers. So that pushed us back more to kind of in all honesty give up. We haven't lost the love of picking, but it was getting a little disheartening to not find nothing. At times we did go and found some stuff but majority of the time it was nothing. We have been selling at the flea market, we still have a lot of items from past finds. Not only that Aida has also been repurposing Bath and Body Work candles into tea cup candles as well.
Then life happened. Jacob tore his ACL again and went into knee surgery for a second time in a row. He had to repair his meniscus and ACL. Apart from that bills and work just took over and we rode the wave of that 9 to 5. Then come earlier this year I got into an accident and started with back problems.
I got better from the accident but another set of health problems started to occur. My left eye started to give me pain, pain that I couldn't remedy with just Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Eventually I had an episode of pain that made me double over to where my head/eye was hurting, I couldn't hold my head up and going to the hospital, not even the morphine helped to ease it. Eventually I was scheduled with a specialist for Glaucoma because my eye was creating immense pressure. 5 drops and 3 pills later I was able to handle the pressure and prevent pain for about 4 days. I got hit with another painful episode and the specialist referred me to another specialist and long story short I need to remove my eye.
This lead to Aida getting a crash course in insurance, which she detests HMO's and networks by the way, and not only that, thru faith, she got me insurance, made a way to see my the 2nd specialist all within April. All this wasn't supposed to occur till June! Granted we had a hiccup because well HMO's that is all I have to say. I needed a new one and it would kick into effect in May. So all April I had to prevent pain literally my doctors couldn't prescribe nothing strong other than drops and Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Not even a tranquilizer and morphine together did anything. Luckily again my wife got me some CBD oils and I started to take preventative measures.
I work in front of a computer and I am not able to do that too much. I sleep and just keep my head down because I pick it up and I am in discomfort. To sleep is a miracle all of this April. Only relief was literally hanging my head off the bed. I can't drive no more, I can't see tv like before. So this is where I come for help. I have insurance but I have a deductible which again is something I'm new to. I hate to be absent a whole year and now come asking for help, but unfortunately I am. I have linked a gofund me for this situation and would appreciate any help that can be offered and if any can't because believe you me we know this economy isn't helpful, then we ask for prayers. May is here and literally in the span of this morning Aida has gotten this surgery approved and set for May 18th.
