EDIT: Okay, website being janky on our end, so it'll be tomorrow before new critters are up! :(

It's Sunday night! That means we're all tuckered out from organizing and sewing and stuff! It ALSO means that Isaac is finally getting around to posting pics of the newest critters!! They will be up on the website as soon as he's done here!

Also, as a reminder, the website is: https://www.themillqc.com/

We are getting ourselves organized up here - tomorrow is erecting shelves and getting stuff labeled so we can find the stuff we need!

We're still planning on being at Steampunk November, so come see us there! Also, the website is up and going! We've gotten a few more non-steampunk themed plushies made, since we're doing a few sales up here in Minnesota. Those will go up on the website by Saturday!

Also, we'll be adding some fancier than usual critters to the roster for Steampunk November, so keep watching this spot to get sneak peeks!

We are bow in Minnesota!! We will post more in a few days, when we have good internet!

The Mill is moving!

We are packing up all our fabric and sewing supplies, and all the critters, and moving north - all the way to Minnesota!

This doesn't mean we're leaving Texas for good - we will still veery happily be at Steampunk November and Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

We will open up commissions for critters once we are settled in place - HOPEFULLY by September (we need time to organize the fabric stash once we get there!)

The library is up to 521 books now!

Also, we're planning out critters for this year's Steampunk November! We're adding more details this year, and trying to give every critter a name and maybe a little bit of background story!

Because we're CRAZY!!

Also... Isaac wants everyone to know that the shingles still is awful, but he's getting better. But seriously, if you CAN get the shots, please do! (Also, it's a weirdly fascinating virus!)

Isaac is being useful as much as he can, and compiling The Mill's library of reference books. The goal is to make all the books available on-site (when we get a physical location).

Right now, as of tonight, the library has 488 books in it, ranging from quilting books to woodworking, drawing to needlework of all sorts.

We've been awfully quiet here recently - wish we could say it's been for giant and cool reasons, but... that would be a lie.

We got home from our adventure, had the A/C die the day we got home. Got that fixed (and the hot water heater), and Isaac promptly developed shingles.

He has a lot to say about shingles, none of it nice. If you haven't gotten the shingles shot and can, please do.

HOWEVER, we're working on getting ready for future events, and wondering about holding another quilting class.

Back from our adventure - traveling, sight-seeing, LOTS of driving, meeting new folx, LOTS more driving, home, A/C replacement, hot water heater replacement... some of that adventure was not exactly planned!

No matter! We are up and running... err... walking, at least. Already prepping for new things and returning to familiar places! We've applied to Steampunk November, and will apply to Screams (in Waxahachie, on the Scarborough Renaissance Festival site)!

Updated the website again with more Critters. We're up to 53 on the site for sale, and two more tubs to go!

Isaac says his fingers are getting tired.

The first round of critters is up on the website!

Please excuse Isaac's descriptions - I don't think he's had enough sleep recently!

Isaac is hard at work on the website today, updating the shop. Hopefully within a day or two he'll have all the plush critters added! We will update here when he's done!

(See? He's hard at work in the background! Most of that snoring sound is coming from the cats!!!)

Thank you to everyone who came out and saw us and saw the critters! We're done at Scarborough Renaissance Festival for the year, but right now we do intend to be back next year!

A grateful THANK YOU to Scarborough Renaissance Festival for allowing us to have a shop there selling our critters!

Now we're chilling for a while before we're off on another adventure! Watch this space for updates and more critter pics!!

OH! And Isaac will get the website updated and unsold critters on it this week between naps!

23/04/2024

One more weekend for us out at Scarborough Renaissance Festival!!

Since it's Barbarian and Viking weekend, we will have a stash of barbarians and Vikings coming out for sale in our shop! Also, more of the ever-popular Plague Doctors!

Come see us before we fold up our displays and wander off into the night! (or day.... we all need sleep here!)

It's Celtic weekend at Scarborough Renaissance Festival! That means we will be having lots of kilted gentlemen (err... and maybe some NOT gentlemen), and lovely Celtic ladies showing off their best dresses!

This weekend we are also introducing critters from the Kingdom of Nri!

Come meet them all at our shop at Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

19/04/2024

Good evening!

This weekend we are joined by folks from the Kingdom of Nri!

Nri was (AND IS!!!) a real place, located in present-day Nigeria. It became known as a place of safety and freedom - escaped African slaves could reach Nri and be free. Nri had no slaves, nor did it have an army. It still exists within the borders of Nigeria!

Stop by and see us and the critters of Nri this weekend at Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

(also, thanks to Brittany LaShaune and others who gave advice, fabric, and encouragement for us to make these lovely critters!)

WHY ARE THERE POSSUMS ON THIS PAGE???

Because we have had a surprisingly large number of requests for possums! So we've been working all week to figure out possum critters, and we've managed to get some done! They're still naked (eek!) so they don't want to be photographed yet. Come see them at Scarborough Renaissance Festival this weekend!

Here We Are!!!

A shot of the shop at Scarborough Renaissance Festival - we're so happy to be there!!

The first weekend was awesome - we had people in and out of the shop all the time, and made some good sales. But the best part was seeing people be thrilled with the work we've done on all the critters!

Not to brag (nope, Imma brag), but we were given lots of compliments about the detail of both critters and their costuming! Lots of friends came by (Hi, Tea Punks!) and made lots of new ones.

Can't wait to do it again this weekend! But now, back out to the studio for more sewing!

09/04/2024

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came by to see us at Scarborough Renaissance Festival for opening weekend! You definitely made us feel loved! (And gave us a lot of work to do this week!)

We're there until the end of April, so you've got three more weekends to come by and see us!

Here's a shot of the shop while we were setting up - it's a fabulous location, right next to the bakery! (We may have gone over a couple of times each day).

This evening's critter is Ganna, the Ukrainian panda. She is wearing traditional clothes, including her kokoshnik - the fancy headdress. Technically, during Scarborough's time period, Ukraine was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, but Ganna chooses to ignore that and pretend she is living the life of a member of the Kiev Rus'.

Either way, she will be out at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, along with other pandas! (Some of whom have a better grasp on time than Ganna does).

Number two today is a good-natured guy - who happens to have a career that some people don't like. He's a monster hunter! He specializes in fairies.

Don't be fooled. Not all fairies are nice and kind! (In fact, most of them aren't). Fairies don't really understand good and bad. They just... do what they want to do! So this monster hunter is there to keep people from being hurt by fairies who aren't paying attention!

Normally he carries a big net to catch the fairies with, but here he's just got... well... let's just say that there's a fairy out there that doesn't have wings anymore. It wasn't personal... just business.

03/04/2024

Whoops! Missed a day! So instead, you'll get two today!

Number 1 is the Mer-lion. No, not Merlin. Mer-lion. He's not magical (unless you ask him. He thinks he's pretty magical, thank you very much).

He and a good number of his mer-friends will be there waiting to swim away with you (please, don't take them swimming. They get soggy really fast!). But maybe take them to see the mermaids at Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

02/04/2024

THIS guy. We're not sure how or when he snuck in, but none of us are brave enough to ask him to leave.

He's a Red Cap - a type of fairy you really DO NOT want to mess around with! He's also known as a powrie or a redcomb. Most of his kind prefer to wield stones, but he's upgraded to a knife. What does he use it for?

Let's just say that he doesn't really like people, shall we?

They are called red caps because... well... umm... they apparently like to dip their lovely red hats in blood. I mean, it works for them, but it seems a little gruesome!

At any rate, if anyone wants to come collar this guy... this LOVELY Red Cap who could NEVER hurt anyone (How much damage can he do with a felt knife, after all???) please come see us out at Scarborough Renaissance Festival!
