Our hijabs are flexible enough to fold elegantly but textured enough to be held in place without using many pins. These are your hijabs.
Need an everyday hijab or one for a big occasion?
The suggestions in the last page are extra ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Salah
- Plan your day around salah times
- Don't be discouraged if you miss any salah, make it up as soon as possible
- Make this dua: โMy Lord! Make me and those หนbelieversหบ of my descendants keep up prayer. Our Lord! Accept my prayers." (14:40)
Quran
- It helps to set a goal, whether it's 1 ayah or 30 ayat, commit to reading a specific amount everyday
- Commit to a specific time to read, I prefer to read before or after salah
- Use a Quran app if its more convenient, or a physical Quran if you think your phone will be distracting, which ever you use, try to keep it in plain sight
Dua
- Make a list of what you want to ask Allah
- Put everything you could want on that list, Allah is al-Wahab, the Giver of All and he loves it when we ask
- Make dua for the ummah to have what you want. From personal experience, I noticed that my duas were clearly answered when I made them for others
Hope these are helpful ๐ค
I'm continuing the series on the names of Allah every Friday, you can find Ar-Rahman and Ar-Raheem up in the highlights ๐
Save this for later ๐ค
"I worked at a cafรฉ a couple years ago that was run by a Muslim man, he hired many of his Muslim friends, who later became some of my best friends.
I learned about Islam through these people I worked with and it stuck to me on a spiritual level. I already believed in many of the elements Islam represents.
So after quite some time and some soul searching, I starting wearing the hijab about a month before I reverted. I wanted to represent Islam the right way, and I wanted to get used to the new life I was about to live.
I felt beautiful, empowered, and confident.
I donโt think there was a โrightโ or โperfectโ time for me to revert, it all just fell into place the way Allah SWT willed.
So I reverted on a Friday... Christmas Day 2020 to be exact, and it will always be the most special day in my life, instead of Christmas Day, it is now the day I reverted back to Islam โช๏ธ"
These past few weeks, I ran out of the tags I was sticking on the hijabs. I didn't buy them, I came across the tags by chance, and when I looked to buy them, I couldn't find anything similar.
It took me 3 days to look for alternatives. I wanted tags that would hold the print elegantly & cleanly and Alhamdulilah, I was able to find something that is so much better than the tags I had before.
It goes to show you that sometimes you lose something, but what you find instead can be so much better.
Drop a comment if you'd like to see the new tags and how they'll look on the hijab.
It's hard wearing the hijab.
As hijabis, the least we have to deal with are invasive questions and dirty looks.
It doesn't help that our community isn't the most compassionate towards our experiences.
We're surrounded by judgement from outside & within our community.
We carry on, holding a hot coal in one hand and our convictions, that are being shaken, in the other hand.
I started Beyond the Veil because I want to change that.
I wanted a way to constantly remind hijabis how far we've come.
I want to remind you that things are tough and they're getting tougher, but you've carried yourself so far.
Your conviction, perseverence, and strength is inspirational and it's about time we notice it.
The day you decided to put on a hijab is a day you'll remember, and each of us has a reason why we'll remember it.
Leave a thumbs up if you agree.

He who acts with extreme kindness.
Ar-Raheem is similar to Ar-Rahman, it describes Allah's kindness & love towards His creation. But it's more specific than Ar-Rahman because it refers to Allah's mercy to His creation in the hereafter. With all of our blessings, we only experience a tiny fraction of Allah's kindness and love, the rest is reserved for us in the hereafter.
It's been almost 2 weeks since spring began and the weather here has been amazing ๐ฅณ.

Sometimes we get so caught up with everything on our plates that we forget to take a break and just breathe.
This last week was especially demanding, trying to get Beyond the Veil up & running that I forgot to give myself breaks ๐.
But I'm learning to prioritize breaks, even if it's just relaxing & breathing for a few minutes.
How do you like to relax & unwind?

He who wills goodness and mercy for all His creatures.
Rahman comes from the Arabic root "rahm" which means womb. When in the womb, a fetus is taken care of without it putting in effort. A fetus breathes, eats, and is protected by the mother.
We're just like that.
We don't have to tell our many organs what to do & when. We don't have to remind our lungs to inhale & exhale, we don't have to put a reminder to remind our hearts to beat. It's all done for us by systems Allah put in place. He's taking care of us, even when things get busy & we forget. He does this regardless of whether we believe in Him or not & regardless of whether we thank Him or not.

For years you were pushed to the side, yet you rose.
For years you were excluded, yet you made yourself heard.
For years you were doubted, yet you moved the world forward.

Shukr is the act, feeling, and words we express when we feel gratitude towards someone.
Part of iman is acknowledging the blessings of Allah in our life. The full fridge we never asked for, the safety we never have to beg Allah for in the middle of the night, and our capability to do great things.
Being grateful everyday changed my days, my relationship with people, and my outlook on life. It wasn't an easy habit to develop and I still fall short, but I'm getting there...
How do you practice gratitude?
Can we go back to mornings like these?
