DVSA confirm no extensions on expiring “lockdown theory passes”

Yesterday, the DVSA confirmed the government has decided not to extend the validity period of theory test certificates for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

After careful consideration and in response to a recent petition the government has decided not to extend theory test certificates for road safety reasons.

The DVSA stated they understand that this will be disappointing for pupils, but it’s essential that they (learner drivers) have the most up-to-date road safety knowledge and hazard perception skills at the critical point that they drive on their own for the first time.

You cannot drive significantly below the speed limit
Sticking to the speed limit works both ways, not only should you not be going above this speed, you also shouldn’t be driving too cautiously either. It’s fine to stay below the speed limit – especially when roads are wet – but drive too slowly and you could be pulled over.

Those caught going too slow are deemed to be causing a risk to other drivers, with an increased risk of accidents and the possible increase in traffic caused by crawling along. Police could class this as careless driving under the ‘Driving Offences’ section of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Lockdown Easing Announcement – 22nd February
The Prime Minister is expected to announce the “road map” out of lockdown next week on 22nd February. We will immediately review any announcements, alongside guidance from the DVSA, to communicate this to you via Instructor Support Updates.

I’m offering either a half an hour lesson or an hour lesson. Prices as follows

Price for half an hour is £10
Price for an hour is £15

I will tailor the lesson to your needs and your style of learning so it’s important we are in contact prior to your online lesson.
