Memories of those who lived in Shanghai during the decade between 2010 and 2020 might have been bathed in golden light. The era provided a spirit of hope and sense of togetherness among the community of locals and emigrants from around the world. Providing the soil for a flamboyant, colorful garden of artistic expression growing out of thousands of little clubs, bars, galleries, and pop-up spaces throughout the city.The imagery from hundreds of hand-printed posters and art prints during these years by artist Chinese/German artist duo IdleBeats aimed to manifest the feeling of a specific time in Shanghai. Melting Chinese cultural heritage with western cyberpunk fiction brought alive by the impression of the city as a whole.The IdleBeats retrospective exhibition walks us through a 12-year journey of free creation and intercultural friendship. We welcome you to join us at the opening at The Space on Sunday, the 19th of March.
