I am a mental health professional, please contact me-no questions asked & no judgment if you or someone you know is struggling through this surreal time. I can listen or assist with referring you to a provider or program that can help.
If you are a mental health professional willing to donate your time, you can copy and paste this too.
In the midst of all of this panic and fear, I think it is important that we try to keep our mental health intact ( as much as we can). Trying to think positively is a good approach but, I find that this may be difficult for some or they may feel these thoughts are phony. I do, however, think that expressing gratitude and focusing on what we do have, rather than what we don’t, can be helpful, especially in times like these. I have composed a list of things I am grateful for and trying my best to focus on them. Feel free to do the same in the comment section or write them in a private journal if that feels more comfortable for you. Either way, I encourage everyone to try this exercise and reflect on how it changes your mood/thoughts. Stay well and safe 😌
What I am grateful for ( no particular order):
1. The food and water in my fridge
2. The weather getting warmer so I can take walks (good for both my mental health and physical health).
3. Technology- this allows me to work from home, stay connected to friends/family, helps me stay informed and entertains me when I need a break from the news.
4. MY HEALTH- times like these really shows how important your health is
5. My family and friends
6. Having the ability to drive to the stores to get food, supplies, etc
7. Workout for Women app, which offers free exercises that can be completed at home
8. Any and everything that helps me sustain my physical health ( oxygen, toothbrush/tooth paste, soap, vitamins etc)
This list can go on and on. I know this is an extremely stressful times as many of us have health, financial, and many other concerns. However, is it possible to try to focus and be grateful on all that we have.
