Sofia Gamboa It doesn’t take long to see the passion that Sofia Gamboa has for surfing. During our photo shoot, the conversation quickly went to where she normally parks at Trespass in Deerfield Beach to surf, and how it just doesn’t break like it used to.

But what about the backside of our hands (finger/wrist extensors)? We tend to forget to work this part of our hand//wrist/forearm, which can create all sorts of issues. I’ve incorporated these daily exercises and even after the first day felt so much better!!

Very honored to have been inducted onto the Advisory Board of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. This organization continues to "bring it" in the world of exercise science and sports nutrition research and practice, and it is truly an honor to sit amongst the top leaders in the field.
It’s that time of the year where things are COLD and training is tough, but truly the most important part of the year for your upcoming SUP season.
NOW is the time to focus on all your goals for the year and truly start working on them.
Nutritionally, introducing new practices and reaching those body composition goals starts now. Its never a great idea to try to do this in the middle of your season.
Additionally, weight training and building a solid strength foundation to support your upcoming year is very important. Once again, start of season and mid-season we want to have a nice solid base to work off of.
And of course, keeping that cardio up to shape when its hard to get on the water. There are ways to continue to build and support your aerobic system so when its time to get back on the water, you are not gasping for air.
Don’t wait till the snow melts and the season starts to build your solid foundation. Lets start working on it now 🙂

With the New Year I’m sure brings some new fitness/training goals!! So I wanted to share this little RPE chart to help you all with those goals.
I know most of us have fitness tracker watches these days (which are most accurate w a chest strap, btw), but this chart is something that helps push a little more (esp on those ‘lazy feeling days’)…
For those of you who work with us as coaches, we set your HR zones, but what is that effort you are experiencing in those zones? Not everyone has the same typical HR max ‘range’, so this chart is a good supplemental tool to use to make sure you are getting the most out of your workouts!
This chart is called a Rate of Perceived Exertion chart (RPE). Its subjective, ie how hard you FEEL your body is working during these workouts. As a coach, this lets me know loads of info when I start correlating what YOU are telling me with what your WATCH data is telling me.
So hopefully you can glance over this, and put it to some use this year within your training :)

Why is post workout nutrition key?
Consuming a mix of carbs and protein is essential to muscle recovery post workout. Your body uses carbs as its main source of fuel for workouts (as we talked about last post), so its important to replenish once finished to help facilitate in muscle recovery! Getting in that protein ensures you are giving your body the amino acids it needs to rebuild muscles.
Better recovery = better workout day after day.

Super proud of one of my clients who has been crushing her goals! We have been working together a little over two months, writing her training/nutrition programming and a couple sessions in person (when she’s in town!).
Love running body comp while working with clients so they can see what is actually happening from their hard work!
Over the last 2 months she has lost 8 lbs of Fat Mass total!!! And gained over 3lbs of skeletal muscle!!
Super proud of her for pushing so hard (and all while on the road as a pilot!!)
