A long time client dropped his main mouthpiece and it hit on the shank end - pics are of the rebuilt shank (raw brass in pics). The shank is now round and has the correct gap.

Custom bass trombone rim - the client's XB114 was duplicated, then we retained the inner and outer contours and added width at the high point to make a wider overall profile, yet keep the feel familiar. Pictured next to the original rim. This is a popular solution for a little more cushion or, in this case, to help sealing on the chops.

Three 3C's!
1. Rim duplication of a Curry 3C. with my MC cup (C type cup with zip) and 5 backbore (commercial type, but playable in all registers).
2. 3C rim with B cup and 24 backbore.
3. ACB MV3CS rim and cup duplication with MTV backbore.
..in the background is another batch of adjustable cup tuba mouthpieces for CHI BRASS Music. Busy, busy, busy!

Rim duplication with Lexan, Acrylic, and Delrin rims.
When compared to silver plated brass:
Acrylic is the most brass like.
Lexan has more grip.
Delrin has more slip, feels softer.

Two beautiful acrylic tops with raw brass backbores. On a tight timeline with these, but got them out in time! They turned out fantastic.

S5M top, with 5 backbore - a touch narrower inner diameter than the client's normal 4 size orchestral mouthpiece (same S rim), with M cup. The M is very popular for pops.

P9 top, with 11 cornet backbore, ready for pic - the P9 feels similar to a 3 size mp on the chops, and the 11, 117 style backbore is a perfect match.

The first three pics are of a Bach Corp. New York 10 1/2CW, the following pics are after a Bach My Vernon 1 1/4C rim and cup duplication we're cut into the 10 1/2CW.
The client really loves the way it plays.

Two recent projects:
-Green acrylic rim duplication of a Toshi MV 1 1/2C scaled to match the cup on the client's underpart.
-White Delrin top of a S6M26, which is the S rim, M cup, at the 6 size, with a 26 throat.

I was able to hear the Seattle Symphony perform Mahler 3 a couple of weeks ago - and the post horn solo, absolutely stunning!
It turns out it was played on one of my original BB SS cornet mouthpieces. You can see the older blank from back in the day. The BB SS is dialed!
A new one was made for the client in the current blank to fit a different rim...along with a custom cup that is a 1 1/2C shape, but scaled proportionally in width and depth to match a 1 size rim. And some threadings and the like.
Having a blast!

Five more adjustable cup tuba mouthpieces - 4 silver, 1 gold. They turned out amazing 👊

Busy as heck and having a blast!

Different parts from a client that won't thread together - Parke rims, Toshi cup, Parke backbore. Rebuilt threads and everything works great, and also with the new custom Frost cups. ✔️

Mt. Vernon 1 1/2C had it's shank rebuilt. The original shank was cracked and flared at the shank end and in terrible condition. Looks fantastic now!

It's incredible to get feedback like this!

"Hey Matt, thought I'd share this with you,

Our new sibelius album came out and I'm pretty pleased with it. Here is the apple music link:

https://music.apple.com/ca/album/sibelius-2-5/1728941612?ls

I'm playing principal on sibelius 2, with a frost S4 - MVD - 25/10

Since that recording, I've switched the rim for a 15E4 but I'm still using the same underpart full time. I can't say enough good things about this mouthpiece and your work in general.

Have a great day!"

A M2 Bb piccolo leadpipe for Kanstul 920 heading out. Improved intonation and tone from the pipe, and the M weight adds more stability and room to color.

A deeper cup cut into a client's mouthpiece - time for plating. If you want a deeper cup and don't want to thread or duplicate, this is a great option.

A horizontal and a vertical 1 1/4C, with B10 and MTV backbores. Stunning!

Acrylic top with raw brass shell - these are the lower shells (not partial rim), so the entire outer rim is acrylic. Great for those with allergy and don't want any amount of contact with metal, yet want the mouthpiece to play very much like a solid brass mouthpiece.

Harmonic Balancers!
https://www.frostcustombrass.net/harmonicbalancers.html

The first new item of the year.

Harmonic balances can be added in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd valve crooks. They are easily added or removed. They can aid in stability of response, resistance, slotting, and articulation. Available in brass, bronze, Delrin, and aluminum. As well as silver or gold plate.

A beautiful 1 1/2C 25/7 clear acrylic rim/brass underpart - ready for cold weather 🥶

23/12/2023

A piccolo A1M (for A pic, 1 taper, M weight) with two steel thumb screws and a bottom valve cap ring - all for Schilke.

The 1 pipe has more resistance than stock while having excellent pitch. The M weight adds more stability and the ability to add a different color.
