Past champions🥇

Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series operates using a point system that will ultimately qualify the top 16 point earners throughout the season for an all expense paid championship event.

At the 2023 GSBS championship tournament, it was Tradd Jones that came away with the win. Ironically, both bowlers in the finals were the winners at Southern Lanes, where the championship was also held, in the regular season. Tradd ultimately defeated Richard Benifield in the final after the pair agreed to change the format from a best of 3 match to a one game final.

Another shoutout to all of the Top 16 point earners from the 2023 season. In no particular order...
Dennis Carlin
Tradd Jones
Darren Franks
Richard Benefield
Lawrence Washington
Dan Blakeslee
Jacob Acker
Brandon Rock
Landon Masters
Dalton Vick
Adonus Huffman
Michael James Patterson
Christian Yager
Patrick Yates
Kenneth Lane
Lane Shull

Hope to everyone again at our first event of the season on February 18 at Southern Lanes.

Past Champions 🥇

The final regular season tournament in 2023, worth double the points for competitors, was held at Bowlero. Dennis Carlin led the field by a substantial margin in qualifying, but it was ultimately Adonus Huffman that would take it down after working his way through the step ladder.

Past Champions 🥇

Stop number 4 on our 2023 tour was held in the Garden City; Augusta, GA. First time GSBS bowler Dan Blakeslee was the ultimate winner after qualifying in 3rd and brute forcing his way into the #1 spot for the step ladder with a massive advancers round performance. Dan took down another first time GSBS bowler Lane Shull in the finals.

Past Champions 🥇

The third stop of the 2023 season took us back to Southern Lanes for the second time. Through the the 6 games of qualifying Richard Benifield lead the field and was the only bowler averaging better than 200. It was more of the same in the 3 game advancers round as he went on to shoot a solid 718 and solidify himself as the #1 seed in the step ladder finals where he would waltz to winners circle.

Fun fact: Sam is the owner/operator of Critical Roll Bowling Supply, this year’s title sponsor of the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series.

Past Champions 🥇

Our second stop on the 2023 tour, one of our favorites, was our annual doubles tournament. Eventual winners Michael James Patterson and Patrick Yates qualified 2nd after going a combined +195 for the 6 qualifying games.
The 5th seeded tandem of Lawrence Washington and Brandon Rock had an impressive climb to make it into the finals, but the Patterson/Yates duo would ultimately snag the win.

Our annual doubles tournament this year will be held on March 3 at Bowlero Marietta.

As we head into the upcoming season of the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series, we wanted to take the time to go through our past winners.

Past Champions 🥇

Our first tournament ever saw some tight matches through the bracket, however, eventual champion Tradd Jones wasn’t involved in any of those. He breezed through the tournament, leading qualifying and dominating his matches on his path to taking home the win.

We’ve been over here quietly working on some things. No, it’s not moving as quickly as we’d like, but it’s coming together nicely. Thank you all for your patience. We’re hoping to have it all together soon.

We are currently in the middle of building the schedule for next season. This is where I pose a question to you all...
What 1 day formats would you all like to see.

One of my goals has always been to only take cashers to bonus bowling. Ideally this trend would continue, but I'm willing to entertain other ideas if they make sense for the series and the bowling centers that host us.

Also considering a over/under doubles tournament. Potentially a over/under/lady trios, as well.

The first season of the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series came to a conclusion today Southern Lanes. The top 16 point earners from a season long effort were invited to bowl in an all expense paid finale for the championship.

There was more excitement in how this qualifying shook out than perhaps any other event we’ve hosted this season. With 2 games to go in qualifying, there was one bowler 5 pins outside the cut and three bowlers tied at just 9 pins outside. After game 5 there was a bowler 1 pin outside the cut and another only 3 pins. It all came down to the last 3 frames for the bowlers in 4th, 5th, and 6th as they juked and jived for that 4th place, final qualifying position.

As qualifying wrapped up, Dennis Carlin found himself leading the way with Tradd Jones, Darren Franks, and Richard Benifield rounding out the top 4.

The bowlers were seeded into a bracket for a best 2 of 3 matchplay the rest of the way. In the first round both matches went to 3 games. Jones and Benifield would be victorious and move into the finals. Ironically, these two bowlers won the previous two stops at Southern Lanes.

Before the finals began, the bowlers opted to leave the format of the match up to fate and flipped a coin that decided it would be only a single game contest. In the end, Jones put up the highest game of the day on a wicked PBA Scorpion pattern to take home the championship.

Congratulations Tradd! And and a huge THANK YOU to all of the bowlers, bowling centers, management, tournament staff, spectators, lane mechanics, and everyone else who made this season possible. I can’t wait to get next season underway.

Speaking of next season, we are already securing sponsorships to make it bigger and better. Another huge THANK YOU to you all for believing in our vision and supporting the bowling community. Check out those sponsors below. And if you’re interested in sponsorship, please let us know.
