Is anyone else not ready to let go of Halloween yet? 🥲🎃
If you’ve never put creepy cloth on your chandelier… I can’t recommend it enough. 👻
I know I’ve been a ghost on here… we’ve been in a really busy season of life but I’m filling some of these squares with my Halloween decor from this year before Christmas is in full swing 😜🎃
A few more pictures from the kitchen reveal that didn’t get posted yesterday. Thank you guys for all the love 🥹.
The kitchen is DONE and I’m obsessed! 🥹. Home takes time and this was almost 10 years in the making. This kitchen finally feels like us and there’s just no substitute for that. Swipe to the end to see where we started.
I’m FINALLY tackling the kitchen! It’s got great bones and the layout is so functional for us, so we’re refacing the cabinets, updating the backsplash, and adding a few new features to really make it sing.
Swipe for the mood board and let me know if you’re on board 😜🙌🏻
We’ve had back to back sickness around here but I’m still making heart eyes at the cabin painting from a few weeks ago 😍
Lots of stuff going around right now. Is anyone in your house sick??
The weekend is almost upon us and we’re en route to Orlando for a family vacation 🤩. What do you guys have planned for the weekend?
We upgraded to “adult” bedding this week and is it just me or is the crunch of a feather duvet the most opulent sound in the world? 😂
This little corner of the bedroom makes me so happy. Last year I brought our Norfolk Pine in from the backyard… I loved the coziness of having a tree in our bedroom but it was super oversized 😂
This year, I opted for a swag of garland and some twinkle lights and it comes pretty close to the same level of coziness without sacrificing space in here 🤩
Swipe to see the giant tree I put in here last year 😅
Are you a full or sparse tree person? I’ll admit, I’m on board with sparse trees but I can’t convince Joe to take the leap… so this was our compromise and I’m so impressed with the quality!
Bonus question: white or colored lights? I’m firmly team WHITE lights 🤩
🎄
I envy people who can put Christmas out in one day. I’ve been working and reworking decor all weekend… but I do love the process so I can’t complain 😜
My favorite mid century reindeer family has landed in our bedroom this year. Do you have a favorite Christmas decor item? I’d love to hear about it in the comments 😍
Guys… these floors make me feel like I’m in a new house 🤩 I’m so inspired to start creating again now that I don’t have to work around them. What do we think of the color of the beams now that the floors are different? They need some de-oranging, don’t they?
Here are some projects you can look forward to following along on now that these floors are out of the way:
- fixing the color of the beam FINALLY
- BIG DIY updates to the kitchen
- Christmas decorating!
New rug looking fiiine in the bedroom! I hope you’re all having a great weekend. We’ve had the most beautiful weather here and I’m trying hard to resist the urge to break out the Christmas tree already 😂
Dreaming up big changes to come!
It’s been tough watching so many of our friends buy new houses since the pandemic started while we also aspire to up-size. At this points we’re priced out of the neighborhoods we’ve had our eyes on for years, an issue I’m sure a lot of you are also facing right now.
We are choosing to love the home we’re in and trust that we’ll move when the time is right. Having patience isn’t always easy, and while our home isn’t perfect, it’s ours and it’s getting better every day.
Replacing these floors has been a process but man, are they going to make a huge difference! I wish I could say I DIY’d the install but we left this one to the professionals 😜
Fall front porch comin’ at ya! Some of you might remember me thrifting the terra-cotta jack-o-lantern a few months back. I decided to lean into the terra-cotta color and painted a few of the pumpkins to match.
I’m still alive! I’ve been quiet… my kids have needed me this week more than I anticipated 🤷🏻♀️. Here’s a living room shot from last year. Hoping to get those bats up again this week 🦇
Fall foliage in full swing over here! I’m jealous of anyone who lives somewhere that sees actual turning leaves OUTSIDE 😅. Here in Florida, we have to buy dried stems and dream about real fall weather 🍁
Styling the kitchen shelves for fall today in stories! I shared a few tips to make any shelf you style (regardless of season) look magazine worthy. Swipe to see how everything came together.
Here are my tried and true shelf styling tips:
1. Use fewer LARGER items versus many small ones. If everything matters then nothing does, so pick a few of your favorites so they can really shine.
2. Use items of varying heights to keep the eye moving.
3. Break up straight lines with rounded objects.
4. Always add an organic element to create movement. It finishes a look off every time. Think: plants, stems, anything irregularly shaped.
Have you started decorating for fall yet or are you a “wait until October” person? 😜🍂
This is the face of someone who finally found her holy grail floor tile 😜. Guys, I feel like I cracked the code!
I’ve been going back and forth in my head for 6 months! I’ve pinned more pictures than I care to admit… but this is a choice that will affect the look of the whole house so it needed to be right!
Good design takes time, right?! 🙌🏻. Check stories to see what I ended up choosing and why I overlooked it 3 times before finally taking home a sample.
I swear I’ve got some fall content in the works for this week, but first, watering day 😅 🌱
Does it ask take you hours to water all your plants?? Just me? Cool. 😅
I need your help! In stories today I explained that we are planning to replace our laminate floors throughout the house. I’m deciding between light or mid-toned wood look tile. What would you choose?
Swipe to see the options I’m considering in the space and weigh in in the comments 🙏🏻
Hello from my new planter… and from me!! I’ve been away from Instagram for a few weeks soaking up as many moments with my family as possible before school started. Now that our schedule is more consistent I look forward to being able to make more content! Idk about you guys, but I’m already getting so excited for fall 🤪
Happy 4th! I’ve been taking some time away from social media after being all-in for the One Room Challenge. I hope you’re all having a great weekend and I promise I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule soon 🥰 🇺🇸
It’s finally reveal day! This was such a fun challenge, but boy am I relieved to be done 😅. Aaron’s big boy room is complete and his pride in all the work we did together makes it all worth it.
Check out the blog for a TON more pictures 🥰. Can’t wait to see everyone else’s reveals! Thank you and for an awesome event.
Week 7 update for the ! I can’t believe next week will be the reveal 🙈. I’ve been running behind this week, but I’ve started hanging art and styling surfaces.
I’m so glad I removed everything from the room and lived with the walls bare for a few weeks. It’s helped me see the room with fresh eyes. Do you ever do that? I think I need to try the same thing in a few other rooms next 😜
Week 6 update! We’re getting there 😁. This week was all about lighting. This wall sconce was so affordable and I think it adds such coziness to this corner. Aaron has been living it.
Check out my blog post for this week and we’re off to NASHVILLE for a grown up vacation 🎉.
Forever my favorite view from our bedroom... which is where I’m stuck today because I feel like garbage after the 2nd dose of the vaccine 😷. I’m sorry to leave you hanging on the lamp DIY I promised in stories but I’m taking a sick day 😩.
Happy Sunday! Are you having fun, working hard, or having fun AND working hard today? We’re going to an indoor trampoline park today and the kids are so excited 😆 (Dad might be the most excited though).
