TEACHING CHILDREN TO READ.
Reading is one of the four language skills, and it means to interpret or make a meaning out of a written or printed words accurately.
It is amazingly disappointing to see an adult who can not read. The question is why?
And the answer is,the adult was mishandled by a CLASS PREDATOR, not an EDUCATOR.
What this implies is that, teaching reading to children begins in the KG.
Therefore, before the child moves from the KG to the grade classes, he/she would have completely mastered the identification of all the letters.
This can be done if the teacher uses different kinds of resources and methods, skills, strategies and approaches to drill the child. Things like:
*FLASH CARDS.
*SONGS AND RHYMES.
*SIGHT WORDS.
*MAKING PARTS OF THE LETTER...
*CALLING OUT LETTER NAMES. etc.
