This morning, I shared a video on Instagram asking others to be a voice for Iran 🇮🇷 and someone asked how??

So, I thought I would also share HERE!!!

First of all, in case you don’t know what’s been happening in Iran, here’s the quick run down!

👉🏼 About 3 weeks ago a young woman Named 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐬𝐚 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢 was arrested and beaten by the morality police in Tehran (my home city of birth).
👉🏼 She then died in police custody. (After being brutally beaten)
👉🏼 Her death sprung an uprising among young women and men who had had enough of living in a dictatorial regime and they took to the streets.
👉🏼 For the past 3-4 weeks women have been in the streets taking off their hijab 🧕 (hair coverings) and protesting.
👉🏼 Many have been killed, but there are too many of them, the police cannot kill them all.
👉🏼 The men have been standing in solidarity.
👉🏼 The government of Iran has shut down the internet to prevent the reports of their extreme violence getting out!
👉🏼 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬: 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍 . 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄. 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐌.
👉🏼 This is the first movement of its kind since the Islamic regime began 43 years ago!
👉🏼 In addition, last week millions of people took to the streets globally to stand with IRAN, in cities like New York, London, D.C and MANY MANY MORE... tens of thousands in each city!
👉🏼 There is much more in terms of both history and current events but that’s the background!!!
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐍?
👉🏼 Know HER name Mahsa Amini (the young woman whose death sparked this movement) and her story and share about it with others.
👉🏼 Share the slogan of this movement WOMAN . LIFE. FREEDOM. with others, tell your communities what is happening.
👉🏼 The majority of those in the streets are very young women and some men 15-22 years old, please speak of the courage it takes to protest knowing you can be killed. Lets Fan the flames of their COURAGE!
👉🏼 Share on social media about what’s going on in IRAN!
Tell the recording academy of music to give a Grammy to the young man who is currently a political prisoner in IRAN (for writing a deeply moving song about WHY people are in the streets) {I’ll share the song below}.

🙏🏽 Each day I wake up and light the prayer candles 🕯 in our house for IRAN. Each day I cry.
🙏🏽 Each day I listen on repeat, to a song that has become the anthem of this movement (in Farsi).
🙏🏽 Each day I pray and give thanks for the courage of my sisters. I, like many others, have been waiting for this moment my entire life.
🙏🏽 This moment in history is serving as an aligning agent to my path and purpose. Everything I have ever done in my professional path as a mentor and coach (in fact most of my choices in my life) has been informed by my deep reverence for personal freedom and sovereignty, which was impacted by being born and raised a girl under the heavy tyranny and oppression of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Everyday I write a takeaway in my private group called "We're in this together". I do the nightly recap there because

1 - I don't want to bug people on my timeline who aren't here for that kind of content, and...
2 - because it's a smaller audience.

But tonight's takeaway I'm putting right up on my timeline so it can be shared.

While the news cycle and the headlines are still focused on Trump, Trump, Trump - the Covid crisis is getting exponentially worse.

Data lags. We know this, and yet, so many people can't seem to figure out how to use the data to project out to the future. Everything we see today is a snapshot of the past.

Yesterday's death count was over 1400. This is a significant rise from the ongoing 700-900 deaths we've seen for the early part of the fall. That death count directly correlates with TWO things...

• Cases 4 weeks ago (about 50k)
• Hospitalizations 4 weeks ago (about 43k total hospitalized)

Which means that TODAY - where we're consistently hitting over 120k cases a day - that will equate to double the deaths we see today, which are already higher.

In other words, all this rhetoric about the death curve not being as high is premature. YES, we have better therapeutics, YES we have younger people getting sick, but if we overwhelm hospitals, the quality of care goes down and death count goes up.

And it is already going to go up significantly because between 4 weeks ago and now we've more than doubled our case count.

Someone asked me today why the death count is lower than March when we had so many less cases. In March, we weren't catching the majority of cases. The case counts in the spring are completely inaccurate because of our botched testing. The death rates from the spring are indicative of...

• Worse therapeutics and understanding of the virus
• Older people (and frail)
• Out of control spread we didn't have any way to measure

Why does this matter? It matters because when people see the curve and see it's not as high as March (especially compared to case counts), people conclude the virus is way more benign - it isn't - the pandemic isn't getting worse - it is.

We have the promise of a vaccine, fatigue, inaccurate early figures, and a holiday season upon us. It's a combination of incredibly psychologically dangerous elements that can and will make this part of the pandemic far worse than what we saw in New England in the spring.

• There are no extra doctors and nurses to send because the virus is everywhere.
• Mask wearing has been overly politicized.
• People are tired and just relieved there's a vaccine and letting down their guard.

Meanwhile the pandemic is WORSE today than March in terms of a runway for the winter. We don't have warmer weather coming. We don't have a nation that's willing to hunker down anymore. We have no coronavirus task force meetings or national strategy (even though the one we had in the spring wasn't super effective - it was something).

Imagine going back to March 2020 and being at a BASELINE of 100k cases a day, and over 60k people hospitalized. That's where we're starting and there are no shelter in place orders.

Right now in this country...

• El Paso can't keep up with their dead and are calling in more morgue trucks every day.
• Utah (a largely conservative state) now has a mask mandate because hospitals are quickly getting overrun
• In North Dakota, they are telling covid positive nurses to keep working because they will run out of staff
• In Indiana, they are rolling out new measures because of an explosion of cases
• Doctors + nurses on Twitter are starting to light up the social media platform with comments like "Covid cases are more than 50% of my shift now."
• The former commissioner of the FDA said the US is now back at March 15th, except without all the new crisis adrenaline to pull people together.

Make no mistake about it. We are here because we half-assed it. We locked down enough to cripple our economy but not really enough to stop anything and then when the lockdown was over, we all bi***ed and moaned about having to wear masks. We've been divided. We've politicized everything about this virus.

And now we're barreling into holiday season with the worst of the pandemic ahead of us.

Here's the good news (after all that)...

This pandemic is not going to last forever. For the first time I think we can all see the end. It's within the next 12 months, hopefully we see drastic differences in the next 6.

We can do this.

We can't get loved ones back, we can't fix peoples' permanently scarred lungs, but we can WEAR A FLIPPING MASK.

• We can make quarantine pods.
• We can avoid crowds and do only the necessary things to work + play.
• We can take responsibility for our health and get tested or quarantine if we've been exposed.

These are not big asks. No one is demanding full lockdowns (though at this point with this spread, I wouldn't be surprised if we have to if hospitals get fully overrun).

If you have ever trusted my judgment in business, trust my judgment now.

After 216 days of DAILY reporting on the virus, and reading everything I've gotten my hands on, following the experts, this is my pep talk..

It's ugly right now, and it's going to get much worse. Baked into our numbers are rapidly rising deaths.

Do what you can. Do your part.

Know that we're more than halfway through this nightmare and it WILL END.
