We have had a great start back to school this week! Today students worked on counting collections! During this activity, students have a random collection of items that they are responsible for counting. They’re encouraged to count them in groups such as 2s, 5s, or 10s. This skill is very beneficial in building their number sense. Activities like this allow them to visually see how groups of smaller numbers make up larger numbers. It’s also a great way to support their understanding of place value! During our collections today we focused on the skill of making reasonable estimations as well as how to prove if a number is even or odd!
