Girl, you are a changemaker!
Ngayong International Day of the Girl (IDG), bida ang batang Juana!

Happy National Breastfeeding Awareness Month!
Pursuant to Republic Act (RA) 10028, otherwise known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, The Philippine Commission on Women is one with the nation in observing the National Breastfeeding Month 2022 with the theme “Sama-samang Itaguyod Tamang Kaalaman at Kalinga sa Pagpapasuso”.
This observance aims to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and further its promotion as a highly beneficial public health intervention for mothers and children.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS A CRIME!
World Day Against Trafficking is observed annually every July 30 to raise awareness on the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights. This year's theme "Use and Abuse of Technology" focuses on the role of technology as a tool that can both enable and stop human trafficking.
As the Philippines maintained its Tier 1 Ranking in the United States' 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report, the Philippine Commission on Women calls for the solidarity of all Juanas and Juans to be more involved in denouncing this issue, spreading awareness to prevent trafficking and exploitation, and to report any suspicious forms of trafficking to the Action Line: 1343.

It's Earth Day 2022! Few days ago, scientists staged worldwide climate change protests and demanded governments to make faster, stronger climate efforts and to put an end to the crimes that disrupt biodiversity.
Climate change has gendered impacts. Women have vulnerabilities that climate change exacerbate, including lack of access to health services, gender-based violence, lack of control over resources, and additional care work. Hence, there must be transformational change towards gender-responsive, long-lasting, sustainable, inclusive, resilient, low-carbon, low-polluting, nature-positive, and circular economy-based pathway for society.
We must also empower women to be change agents and decision-makers in climate resiliency.
Today, as we celebrate the International Earth Day 2022 with the theme "Invest in Our Planet", the Philippine Commission on Women encourages every Juans and Juanas to help build a healthy planet and to take action to preserve the only home we'll ever have.

“The 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) endeavors to highlight the gains achieved for women and girls, assess actions towards gender equality and look forward to steps that must be taken to ensure progress in empowering women. With the country still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, studies and data show that the health crisis stalled movements towards gender equality, worsening inequalities, further exposing gender gaps, and exacerbating vulnerabilities in social and political, and economic aspects.”

Today, September 1, is the birthday of Consuelo Padillo Osorio, the first Filipino woman to direct a film.
Osorio was credited for her film “Dalagang Luksa” in 1938.This film did very well and was soon followed by more lachrymal pictures, “Dolores”, “Pagsuyo,” and “Magmamani!” before the World War II broke out.
After the liberation, Osorio directed “Bakya Mo Neneng” which was the first post-war Tagalog film that was played at the Malacañang.
