I was surprised to have accommodated an emergency patient via teleconsult today. The patient was a 69 year old male, febrile, other vitals unknown, and was severely dyspneic despite being hooked to oxygen. Though it wasn't really ideal to do teleconsult for cases like this, it is a moral obligation for any physician to even just check the medical history and condition of the debilitated patient. The informant was the niece and according to her the patient, who was a known diabetic and hypertensive, has a history of 1 day fever before falling unconscious this morning. No rt-pcr or any swab tests were done. Covid suspect? Definitely. I advised them to bring the patient to the nearest health facility immediately. Hindi talaga uubra ang teleconsult. But with the present toxic situation of hospitals nowadays, it fears them with the possible infectious environment exposure and of course, the financial burden they might encounter. I posted this should any of you wanted to help the family for financial aid.
