Letter of Intent 05/01/2024

Tips: Do not write a letter of intent for every single program you interview with. This is unethical and you do not want to be caught in the lie when a program finds out you did not rank them number one. Be direct and clear. Tell them program directly that you intend to rank them as your first choice. Explain why....

Step 3 14/04/2023

Step 3 is known to be the easiest USMLE you will ever take. But, that does not mean you shouldn't study for it. Because although it may be "easy", it is still a long exam consisting of two days (7 hours & 9 hours). And for many, this exam will be taken during residency which means finding ways to study and making sure you're ready for exam day....

5th semester 04/02/2023

January 13, 2020. The last first day of basic sciences. It felt surreal that I was so close to finishing off basic sciences and ending my journey in Barbados. The start of the semester was different since we had a two-week study block before the new module began. My plan was to start reviewing everything from the very beginning in order to be prepared for Step 1....

4th semester 04/02/2023

Semester 4 had a lot of random study days included in the schedule and I think it’s extremely important to not abuse those. It’s easy to think that since there is so much more time to study that you can take the day off and lounge around. Now, I’m not saying abuse your mental health and not take care of yourself....

3rd semester 04/02/2023

Semester 3 was known to be the most brutal for the first month. We had 2 exams scheduled within the first month, and there weren’t any study days given besides our usual one day before test day. I heard so many upper semester students say that Microbiology was going to be a killer for the majority of us. But, I was super excited to start out this semester because I knew I had seen the material before....

2nd semester 04/02/2023

The start to a new semester in a new place In January 2019 I began my second semester in Barbados. I had planned to live with people I knew from Semester 1. RUSM housing had different plans in mind. With so many students flying into Barbados at once to start this new and different journey, everyone was overwhelmed. I was startled when I was given the key to a house that I didn’t sign up for....

1st semester 04/02/2023

September 2018 I officially started my medical school adventure at RUSM. I was beyond excited to be starting a journey that I had always dreamt of. I was turning my dream into a reality, and it meant the world to me. I still remember packing my things (I definitely over-packed due to all the excitement) and having my parents help move me into my apartment in Knoxville, TN....

MERP 04/02/2023

What is MERP? MERP (medical education readiness program) is a 15-week program that focuses on preparing students for medical school. It is offered to those who have been conditionally accepted to Ross University School of Medicine. In order to start at RUSM, students must achieve an overall score of 70% or higher. Although 70% doesn’t seem difficult, the program is set at a medical school pace in which students need to learn how to balance their social and academic life to perform well....

Welcome to Adventure To MD. This blog started out as a canvas for me to share my experiences and journey through medical school. To portray the many different aspects of life as a medical student. But over the last few years, I’ve been able to expand beyond that and connect with individuals from all over the world. As someone who has always been shy and timid, this blog has forced me to step out of my comfort zone and it has been so rewarding to help in any way possible.

As my adventures of medical school have come to an end, it is time to take on the new adventures that will be coming up shortly. In the coming months, I will start sharing my experiences and life updates as a resident physician.

I am extremely grateful for the support that you all have given me, and I hope you will continue to follow me along on this rollercoaster that we call life.

Love,

Arti
