This is one of my latest upcycles. This was a 1948 Philco combination radio/record player. I discovered it was unique in that it had two record player arms - one for 78s and one for 33 1/3. Turns out 1948 was the first year of the 78s and this was the first model of record player built that could play both - thus the two arms. Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge or the parts to make it work again, so I did the next best thing - preserved it! I started by gutting everything and refinishing the cabinet and the table it is sitting on. Then I superglued the radio dial face plate and the k***s onto the cabinet. I took the record player apart and salvaged the turntable, record plate, both arms and all the other components (except the speaker) you would normally see when you opened the cabinet and got rid of all the wires and other pieces so I could lay the record plate flat on the bottom of the case. Then I reattached all the pieces I salvaged. I built a wood frame around the inside of the cabinet and had a piece of tempered glass cut to fit inside just above the reassembled record player. I added an electronics charging station and a touch puck light. Now it can be used to recharge and store phones and tablets right on top of the glass and the rest is preserved forever as a conversation piece under the glass. I haven't decided if I will eventually put it in one of my booths or take it to the OMG Market in November.

With two booths to keep stocked at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall ( #72 Minnesota and #183 Omaha St) on Sapp Brothers Drive in West Omaha and working to procure and refinish/upcycle furniture, I just can't find time to post all of my pieces. So I decided I will periodically post multiple pictures from my booths so you can see what I have available. Sorry for any duplications - I tried to get shots of everything. I'll also post pictures of pieces I have here at home if I put them up on FB Marketplace. These pictures were taken on 9/27/23.

This is a mid century Capehart TV cabinet I just finished. It is staged as a bar, but could have multiple uses. I restored most of the cabinet but ended up painting both sides in black enamel due to deep damage. I added shelves and lights inside. The lion head hardware is original. I found a copy of the original advertisement for this piece and staged it with vintage barware from the same era. This beauty will be for sale at my next show.

Thanks to all the locals who made it out to the Vintage Market Days. It was a lot of fun, successful, and I must say, I am exhausted! I'm going to take a few days to recover and get everything put away, then I'll get started on some new projects. I've gone through this site and deleted everything that sold - so everything you see is currently available!

SOLD! She's finished! It's a child size drop front. I have stenciled the sides, top and door fronts in shades of blue and aqua. I handmade all the gold pieces (Mermaid, seahorses, shells, etc) in epoxy resin and permanently affixed them to the piece. The lower section behind the doors has a shelf.
