During the Treasury of Knowledge Retreat in October 2023, as part of his teachings on how to cultivate wisdom and compassion during dark times, the wonderful Buddhist master Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche gave an oral transmission and shared a specially arranged liturgy for the sādhana ("method of accomplishment") of the great bodhisattva and Buddhist deity Chenrezik (Skt. Avalokiteshvara), originated from a Sadhana composed by the accomplished Tibetan master Thangtong Gyalpo . To deepen our appreciation and experience of Rinpoche's blessing, and to share this powerful and healing practice with a broader group of interested individuals, two sessions will be offered via Zoom and will include teachings by Mitra Tyler Dewar on how to practice the sādhana and actual practice of the sādhana itself, including recitation of the famed mantra of compassion, OM MANI PADME HUM.

Attendance at both events is free and there will be opportunities to make donations to the presenters and to the hosting organizations to support their work.

We warmly invite you to join us during these times of turmoil to engage in this special meditation practice and share deep prayers for all sentient beings to experience healing, peace, wellness, and liberation.

The teachings and practice will be in English, with Chinese translation. The Sadhanas for both language will be available after registration.

To receive a Zoom link to attend one or both of these sessions, please go to the registration link at the top.

Connecting with Buddha Nature
Online Series
Register at bit.ly/acharyatashi
Sundays, July 11 – September 12, 10:30 a.m. to Noon (Pacific)
No session on Aug. 22
According to Tibetan Buddhist teachings, a person’s true nature – buddha nature – is the foundation from which all wisdom develops. In this series of eight classes, Acharya Tashi will teach on the writings of the Third Karmapa Rangjung Dorje (1284-1339), focusing on bringing the teachings into practice. To discover buddha nature, the meditator needs to know how to meditate correctly and must properly understand the reasons for practicing. The writings of the Third Karmapa show how philosophy and practice come together in the development of insight on connecting to buddha nature. These teachings are also valuable in presenting an important aspect of the Shentong view.

Register to receive links for the Zoom session and a resource page that will hold recordings of Acharya’s teaching sessions and a PDF of the related text, The Treatise on Pointing Out the Tathāgata Heart by Karmapa Rangjung Dorje.

The Contemplative Resource Center [CRC] is pleased to present the second program of the historic TOK Series, which began in 1992, in San Antonio, Texas. The CRC plans to present selected TOK retreats in a video series over time. The Kind and Noble Truth of Suffering by Mitra Mark Power
Sunday, May 16 at 1 pm PDT
Register at nalandabodhi.org

It's taught that after the Buddha's awakening, He first taught that suffering is the nature of existence. As Buddhists we might exaggerate or minimize the importance of this truth, thinking either we've been cursed, or that it's really not that bad after all. But it wasn't a threat, or a teaching device, or a religious belief, it was, and is, a simple truth as discovered in Buddha's awakening.
Despite how it may seem, the Truth of Suffering is not all that doom and gloom. In fact, the message of the truth of suffering is the first expression of Buddha's kindness, revealing this inconvenient truth, not as a warning, but as a doorway, opening the gate of the dharma that we might walk through. Have you found the Nobility of this truth in your life, it's kindness? Let's explore together.
