As part my apprenticeship, I had to try my hand at a bunch of different tattoo styles! Out of all of them, I think this Japanese style tattoo came out particularly strong. What other styles of tattoo would you want to see posted?

To start things off I thought I would show off some of the art from my portfolio that helped me get my tattoo apprenticeship! One subject I really want to tattoo some day is portraits. So here’s just a few music artists I love: , , and ! Would love to do tattoos of any of them some day.

A not super interesting inside look on the artist process:
So I posted a version of this a little while back, and I’ve just been unhappy with it ever since. I had already fixed it up once for myself, but still it’s been itching at me. In true procrastinating ADHD fashion, I needed to be prepping the D&D Theros game I’m running tomorrow - which made it the perfect time to work on this portrait instead.

I'm not sure why this piece has gotten so much fixation out of me - I only played this character once. I don’t love the proportions I stylized it with. And I have plenty of other, more promising sketches in the waiting for better treatment. But even as I can see how the original sketch can only take me so far - it’s not a dynamic pose and the subject isn’t particularly interesting or unique - I love the color palette and it’s so close to “that “something” I want from my future art. It’s there - almost - but still not quite. But I’m not sure what it is that it’s lacking.
So I keep picking at this piece.
Putting it to bed for now by posting it. Maybe I’ll think more on it in the future, but hopefully I’ll just try and dig that “something” out of my next piece instead.

Crowley León! A cooking bard raised by an adventuring pride of leonins after they found his abandoned egg. He wasn’t much of a fighter though, so after venturing off on his own, he wound up as a chef on a pirate’s ship, until he met his current crew.

He’s scared of blood and inflicting lethal damage, which is my way of playing around with a near 100% support character.

His cooking spells work like witchcraft - requiring certain ingredients and incantations. But afterwards you also get a yummy meal out of it!

UPDATE POST: Hi guys! Now that I've had the jab, I've been visiting a lot of loved ones I haven't seen in a SUPER long time, and getting all the things done that I haven't been able to do during this danged global panini! Because of that I probably won't be able to make comics as much for June. :( BUT I'm going to be posting up my non-comic art still! And we'll be back on schedule for July!!
