Bye bye nice weather 👋
🔥🌶️
Nature’s pudding
Well it snowed today. 🌨 I’m guessing this beautiful nasturtium is gone, but not before I got to pick some leaves for my salad mix. 🥗
Polytunnel, mini polytunnel and spring onions, all looking good. 😌
November surprise! 😮
Last week was very sh*tty. No, it’s not snow… 😔 It’s styrofoam “dust”, it’s hard to see in the photos but it’s all over the garden. My neighbors did some outside house insulation and they decided to opt out of those “protective covers” around the “building” site.
They ruined my top compost mulching and my path mulching, it all needs to be thrown away, even the marigolds are covered with styrofoam and had to be pulled out. And it’s impossible to clean properly. ☹️
I’ve invested time and money into building the soil and the path mulching, and my winter green tunnels are also contaminated now… I’m furious. 😡
Last zucchini for this year. I planted more zucchini plants then even, grew them from home-saved seeds, but almost all of them cross pollinated with spaghetti squash and they were not very tasty. The heat stunted their growth up until October so we also didn’t get much of them anyway. This one was the only true zucchini that managed to produce. 🥲
p.s. It’s beetroot juice🩸, I didn’t cut myself, at least not yet. 😅
Not much time for the garden this week, but this made my day. 😂 I would love to see that list! 🐌
We planted all the onions for this season, and now we can relax and enjoy the colors of the autumn. 🍂
Last summer harvest, a few weeks ago. It wasn’t the best year for many things but we are still grateful we got some homegrown organic produce. 🌱
The production of is up and running! Already a third picking. 💚
This is my 2 year old Cherry Belle radish, that’s just chilling in my garden, living it’s best life.
It didn’t want go and I didn’t want to pull it out, so now I’m waiting for the third flowering to get some more seeds. 😅💁🏻♀️
Elephant garlic! 🐘🧄
What to do with such huge cloves? 😅
Terrible year for tomatoes, but hopefully we can pickle someone of these 😊🤞.
Planted these at the begging of the Autumn/Fall and it took 47 days to a radish harvest, both french breakfast and cherry belle variety made it at the same time. 🥳
There is some slug damage, but that’s ok. 😌
The greenhouse greens are looking promising! 🤞 We already had a first harvest of delicious tender greens. 🥬
This year I’m allowing myself to be a bit impatient. I picked these peppers before they turned red, I’ll probably pull some plants a bit sooner than usual and I’ll plant the greenhouse a month early, too… 🤷♀️
Salad greens are already sprouting!
Hopefully there will be lots to pick this winter. 🤞🙂
We got , , , some , and planned for the polytunnel and mini polytunnels.
This hardly ever happens, but it’s usually after a very hot summer, and since it’s not a constant problem I never bothered to find out what this (I suspect not native) pest is… Searching my local results and nothing! 🤷♀️
Any ideas? They mostly eat green tomatoes, rarely the ripping ones.
A comfy, relaxing AND☝️productive day in the garden - made a new polytunnel bed and planted my winter greens. 🥳
I painted my tomatoes! 🥳
Every other Summer lately has been very hot, but this Summer took the medal. I tried planting starts for the Autumn but no luck, it’s just too hot, now I’m just gonna wait and see when the heat wave is over and start again.
☀️
The sorry sights from the garden include a peach tree that is not doing so well, bare ground patches on the beds, some rather well doing cayenne peppers in the shade, covered polytunnel and stunted zucchini growth. 🥲
How is your doing?
What vegetable is this? 😮 Do you know? 🤔
🌱 Moments of peace and quiet in the garden are the most precious.
🌿 The way light bounces of the leaves in the sunset, the smells, the colors, the sounds of birds and insects... I'm so grateful, I wouldn't trade it for the world. ✨
🌿 My winter greens are still giving me good harvests.
🌱 I did lose some to the frost this year, but there is still a lot to pick.
🥬 I planted the mix I saved and , and I pick them leaf by leaf which makes them last a lot longer.
Do you have some overwinter tips?
🪴The grow light plan for the fell through, so I’m doing my best to keep them from stretching in low light conditions this winter.
💡They did stretch a bit, but they are doing very well since I started watering them once in 3 weeks. It seems that might be one of the key components in avoiding leggy succulents, and light of course, lots of light.
Saying goodbye to tomato season, it’s been a good run. Cherry tomatoes are still putting up a fight, but soon it will get too cold for them as well. This battle-scared beauty is what’s left of the , it will not go to waste I promise! 🧡🍽
I planted a small row of fall/autumn carrots and they did 50% ok, half of the row was shadowed by som kale plants and got a bit stunted. But that’s ok, I never planted carrots like this and I just wanted to see what happens. 🥕🧡
Kale having a great time with its little friends! 😂
