Finally, amidst many eminent dignitaries and industrialists, my book 'Mettle, the stuff we're made of' was officially launched on Saturday, April 22, 2003 at T-Hub, by Srinivas Rao Mahankali (MSR), CEO, T-Hub and VAGISH DIXIT, Chief Engagement Officer of Alpla Group and former Vice-Chairman of CII Telangana State Council. A book reading session by artists and experienced corporate communication professionals, was followed by an engaging panel discussion on the legacy and future of entrepreneurship in the city. The panel comprised of Sunil Reddy, Managing Director of Dodla Dairy, Vanitha Datla, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director, Elico Ltd., Mr. Srinivas Rao, Mr Dixit and myself.
The book launch was well-attended by entrepreneurs and book lovers of Hyderabad, and moderated by the enthusiastic Rajeev YSR.

I am grateful to to all the business leaders who shared their stories with me for my book. I am indebted to all the dignitaries who graced the launch event. A second-generation entrepreneur from Warangal, Jalandhar Reddy gave up an opportunity to study abroad and joined his father’s business instead. Starting off from a junior position, he learnt the business from the basics and worked his way up in the organisation.

Over the past two decades, KNRCL has completed more than 6,000 kilometres of road projects across 12 states of India, with about 90% of orders sourced from southern states. KNRCL’s range of verticals includes highways, bridges, irrigation projects, water management, agriculture and trading. Its urban water infrastructure management project, Challaghatta Main Valley Project, involves the remodelling of primary and secondary storm drains, bridges, culverts and related works in Bangalore’s Challaghatta Valley.

A second-generation entrepreneur from Polamaru, K. Ravi joined his father’s business at an early age and has since scaled NCL Industries to a diversified building materials company. With over two decades of experience in the industry, he is known for his ability to drive growth and innovation.
Having spearheaded several key initiatives that have helped the company to expand its product portfolio, enhance its manufacturing capabilities, and improve its operational efficiency, Ravi has received several accolades for his contributions to the industry including the "Life Time Achievement Award 2021” in HMTV Business Excellence Awards and the "Best Entrepreneur of the Year Award” from Hyderabad Management Association in 2012.

A chance conversation and a leap of faith turned Dr Amar Nath Gupta into an entrepreneur when he founded Premier Explosives in 1980. Ms Vanitha Datla is the Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of Elico Ltd., a pioneer in the Analytical Instrumentation Industry sector. She is an astute businesswoman with experience spanning diverse sectors such as Financial Services, Insurance Services, Cement, Power, Security Printing, Instrumentation & BPO services, and stints in USA and India.

Vanitha was elected as the first Chairperson of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the newly created state of Telangana in 2014 and continued for a second term till 2016. She has served on multiple Corporate and Academic Boards across the globe in a leadership capacity and continues to do so.

It is an inexplicable feeling when you sit down and discuss an idea with someone, and 2+ years later it turns into reality!
