I am a passionate Kathak dancer, teacher, performer based in the UK. I teach weekly online classes.
Kathak is one of the major classical dance forms of India with more than 2000 years of history and received worldwide recognition. It's beautiful, elegant and a perfect combination of body movements and facial expressions. Kathak originated in Northern India in an effort by traveling bards to tell stories or "katha" from mythology and general life with facial expressions and movements of body part

Being able to dance is one of the greatest blessings and 2023 blessed us (me and my students) with numerous opportunities to dance. Here are a few of those blissful moments from our performances and workshops. And I am full of gratitude that I have not given in to health obstacles and continued dancing.

Glimpses of my performance 'Hori' at Cambridge Ratha Yatra, 2023 - choreographed by Padmashri Guru Rani Karnaa. I have learnt this beautiful choreography from her disciple Sohini Debnath di, my Guru. However, I had to improvise the choreography on the spot due to the grass, and only a Kathak dancer would know how difficult it is to perform chakkars or fast paltas on the grass, my apology for that đ
Rath Yatra was held for the first time in Cambridge, UK. It was great to be invited to participate in it as a group. The feeling of performing Kathak dance next to the chariot in the open field in front of hundreds of spectators was completely unique and surreal.
