Review definition of absolute value.
Absolute Value is the distance of a number from zero on a number line. (It is never negative)

Operations on Integers
ADDITION
Like signs:
(+) + (+) = (+)
(-) + (-) = ( - )
Different signs:
Big (+) + small ( - ) = +
Big (- ) + small (+ ) = -

SUBTRACTION
keep, change, change then proceed to addition
5 - (-3) ----- keep (5) , change (-) to (+) , change (-3) to (+3) then add 5+3 = 8

MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION
like signs
(+) x (+) = (+) (+) / (+) = (+)
(-) x (-) = (+) (-) / (-) = (+)

different signs

PROPERTIES OF OPERATIONS ON INTEGERS
C-C-A-D-I-I

1. Closure property for Addition/Multiplication (integer+integer=integer) integer x integer = integer

2. Commutative Property for Addition/Multiplication
a+b = b+a a x b = b x a

3. Associative Property for Addition/ Multiplication
a+(b+c) = (a+b)+c a x (b x c) = (a x b) x c

4. Distributive Property
a(b +c) = ab + ac a(b - c) = ab - ac

5. Identity Property for Addition/ Multiplication
Identity element for addition is 0 a + 0 = a
Identity element for multiplication is 1 a x 1 = a

6. Inverse Property for Addition/Multiplication
additive inverse uses opposites opposite of a is -a,
a + (-a) = 0
multiplicative inverse uses reciprocals reciprocal of a/b is b/a
a/b x b/a =1

Converting Repeating Decimals with 9 as denominator technique.
Look for the pattern...
1/9 = 0.111...
2/9 = 0.222...
3/9 or 1/3 = 0.333...

for mixed

1 1/9 = 1.111...
4 2/9 = 4.222...
