A special note to the Florida teachers: You will see that this unit covers your Unit 12 and 13. It's missing some lessons such as the money and pictograph lessons, but I plan to make them once I've finished with Unit 13 (your Unit 14).

Unit 9 (Addition within 100) is similar to Unit 11 (Subtraction within 100). Make sure your kiddos have a firm grasp on place value for Unit 9.
TENS and ONES, TENS and ONES... Build the numbers with base ten blocks. What's the difference between 23 and 32? How many tens? How many ones? Rinse and repeat...
If they've mastered place value, they'll manage to add the numbers in this unit with ease.

If your students need to practice place value more, make sure to get Unit 3's practice pages which focus on place value.

Unit 7 was all about addition within 20, especially using the part-part-whole mat. Now it's subtractions turn!
Unit 7 and Unit 8 are essentially best friends 💞. They follow well after each other.
They're all about reading the word problems and finding the unknown/missing addend in the equation.

🔥HOT TIP:
Tell your students often that you believe that they can do the Math.
Here's how I grow their motivation and confidence in Math:

I say "I can do it" in a chant-like manner and the students repeat "I can do it".
I know it sounds simple - but my students really believe it! When I want to steer a students' attention to their work, I say "I can do it" in the chant-like manner and immediately the student is motivated to continue attempting the Math. Give it a go!

Hot Tip 1 - Send one of the assessments home as a study guide. Use the other one as the test in the classroom. This will help boost the students self-confidence. It will give the students and the parents an idea of what type of questions will be asked in the tests. Everyone will be happier and less stressed in the process. We can do this!
Hot Tip 2 - Use the assessments at any time of the year as a review of Unit 5 Subtraction Within 20.
