Things that make me smile as a nail tech 💅🏻

1. Relax your hand - it makes it easier for me to apply product, when you don’t relax your hand it puts extra strain on my hands

2. Arrive on time - yes I may work from home, however I may have others booked in after you, and it’s considerate

3. Book your nails in advance - I am getting booked up faster and faster, I can plan my bookings ahead of time when you book your next appointment before leaving your current appointment

4. Be patient - unfortunately instagram nails are not 1 hour services, the average trained nail tech takes around 2 hours per set. I am not a production line

5. Keep still when I am doing nail art - you want straight lines you need to keep still (to test this theory get someone you know to hold a piece of paper and then you try to draw a smiley face, then ask them to move it while you try and draw)

6. Post your nails on your socials and tag your nail tech (it honestly means the world you love your nails and want everyone to see them)

7. Place your hand in the nail lamp correctly - you will be surprised this doesn’t happen that often (when you are next in look at how many colours are on the inside of my lamp) if you move around with wet product on your nails it will move, this can cause allergies if it gets on your skin

8. Do not pick your nails or use them as tools - they are jewels not tools

9. Use cuticle oil daily - we can tell when you haven’t

10. Please do not no show - we have booked that time out for you - imagine being asked to turn up at work, you get there then you are told you aren’t needed, but you cannot go home, oh and you won’t be paid, to some nails may be a hobby but it isn’t a hobby for me, it is a job.

Good morning all.
Important message, for those with children under 16 wanting their nails done.
I have had a few people messaging me in regards to their children wanting their nails done (mainly acrylic extensions)
I am unable to do acrylic, gel or builder gel on anyone under the age of 16.
This is due to many things, here are a few of them:

1. Those delicate nails cannot take the extra weight of an enhancement, adhesion will be poor and any form of buffing during the prep will thin an already thin nail plate.
2. Any added length will put far too much pressure on the nail bed and down to the matrix.
3. Any accidental upward force can rip the nail plate off the nail bed! This can cause damage to the nail bed temporarily or permanently.
4. Then we come to removal! Those weak little nails cannot take the level of buffing required for removal. The chance of detaching the nail plate is high plus the movement in the nail plate can also damage the matrix. It can be an irritant and far too strong for the delicate area.
5. Many insurance companies do not cover nail techs to work on any one under 16 years of age.

So if you find somewhere to do your children’s nails this is a major red flag, and would make me question if they are actually insured or even trained correctly.
