Harvested most of my fall garden today. Lots of bok choy and Turnips to can.

It’s the weekend and I know we all have yard work, house work, laundry etc to do but before the work week gets crazy don’t forget to take some time for yourself. It’s not selfish and your body mind and spirt need it more than you think.
I’ve never been much of a runner or walker. Walking is one of the best things you can do for a low impact activity. It’s great to be In nature. My goal is to walk daily 1.5 miles in 20 minutes.

We will have fun while learning and putting some of these food and lifestyle changes into action. We can have all the tools and knowledge we need to be healthy but unless we put them into action it’s worthless.
As I continue to learn about hormones in women, Insulin (yep it’s a hormone) plays a large part in health and weigh loss. Insulin regulates the amount of glucose in your blood. In healthy people, when the pancreas detects too much glucose is in the bloodstream, insulin signals muscles, the liver and other tissues to absorb it and convert it to energy. If you eat excess carbohydrates or don’t manage stress well, Insulin becomes blocked and glucose rises in the blood and at high levels can be toxic. This is called insulin resistance. Your cells become numb to the insulin message. It’s a precursor to diabetes (pre diabetes) and can lead to greater hunger and more fat storage, especially in the belly. Once we get our hormones in check it is easier to drop the weight and be healthier.
I love to experiment on myself and find ways to get my body healthier and drop weight. I started using this new tool to measure the glucose in my blood.
