So, I have taken a long hiatus from posting to this page, but that is ending now. In the last five weeks I have lost a total of thirty pounds by following a keto diet! I am feeling better than before, and I never had the "keto flu" (thanks to some helpful advice I will share here).
Probably the best side of all this is that I don't feel deprived while eating keto. Yes, there are some foods I loved that I can't eat, but there are also plenty of easy and delicious meals that I can enjoy. And I don't end up feeling hungry all the time. When I feel an urge to eat, I do so, and don't have to count carbs or calories. I just stick to foods I know will help me get to where I want to go, and my body no longer betrays me with a desire to binge.
Is this plan the best one for everyone? I seriously doubt it. People are able to achieve lasting success at weight loss through a wide variety of different methods. But each person is unique, and I don't need a path that works for everyone. I need a lifestyle that works for ME, and so far, keto has filled that need.
Only time will tell, but I can definitely see myself following a keto diet for the rest of my life. I am certain it can take me down to a much healthier body weight, and already the loss of thirty pounds is making it easier for me to walk for exercise. Long range, my goal is to increase my fitness, and get back to doing things that I cannot do right now. The actual weight is just a number. The ability to live my life the way I want is the real goal.
