Charlotte Bowden Soprano
British Soprano - 2022 Jerwood Young Artist playing Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro
✨ Only just coming back down to earth after an incredible week singing at the 14th Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik Cesti Competition. ✨
It was an honour to be invited to sing with the festival orchestra and Angelo Michele Errico for the final round on Sunday and I’m so happy that the panel decided to award me Second Prize.
Congratulations to all the other finalists for a wonderful concert and to the other prize winners!
I want to say a special thanks to Eva-Maria, Marion, and all the team. We were so well looked after all week, it really felt that our comfort and needs were prioritised from the first day of check in to the post final reception!
I couldn’t recommend the Cesti Competition highly enough to other young singers and hope to have another excuse to visit this beautiful city again very soon!
Our penultimate show of Hansel and Gretel at Opera Holland Park is tomorrow!
There are still a few tickets left, grab one while you can!
Thank you to Laima at for these backstage photos of me flitting about as The Dew Fairy, and to Neil Irish for the most whimsical and glamorous costume!
From now on I’m having it written into all my contracts that I will only appear in Pom Pom headdresses and jewel encrusted tutus!

Last week I had the huge privilege of covering Pretty Yende and standing in for the dress rehearsal of the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Singing with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Coronation Orchestra at Westminster Abbey was such a special experience, particularly performing ‘Sacred Fire’ by Sarah Class - one of the pieces personally commissioned by the King.
Congratulations to all the musicians who performed throughout the service and celebrations, it was a masterclass in artistry and professionalism. I am so proud to have had a part to play in the preparations for such a triumphant display of musical talent and excellence!
Many thanks to Opera Holland Park for allowing me time off our rehearsals for Hänsel und Gretel and to the Royal College of Music for putting me forward to be a part of something so extraordinary!
✨ Still pinching myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming! ✨
