Rose McCan
singer-songwriter from switzerland
(irish folk and swiss dialect songs)
A small snapshot of my video camera.
My Swiss German dialect song was played this afternoon on MKB Independent Radio - based in Scotland UK! Pretty cool, isn't it? "Du, miin Schatz", my dialect version of "Danny Boy" was also played there quite often (several times this morning!). It's pretty surreal, I think, but sooo cool. I'm very happy right now. Thank you so much, Mary!

With "rós rain", I leave Irish folk for once and start my pop music journey. But even here I'm accompanied by a bit of Ireland, because I placed a bodhrán on the drummer's chair. If you want to listen to this Swiss-German song "Verliebt" (about beeing in love), you can find it on streaming plattforms (the streaming links can be found on my website; even a link to my video on mx3).
it started with a phone call
As you know, I like to try out new things. Not just musical things. Here I have "painted over" a snapshot from the studio. It was taken in November when I was recording the vocals for my new dialect pop song, which will be released next friday (9.2.).
It's true. I get to share a small stage with Sam Stauffer. Great, isn't it?
And exactly 10 days after St. Patrick's Day, on International Whisk(e)y Day. Understandably, we decided to turn the "stelldichein" songwriter gig into an "Irish singing special" evening.
On Wednesday, 27.3., from 7-9 pm (19-21:00), we will be presenting the Irish folk songs that have accompanied and more or less shaped us on our journey as singer-songwriters.
Now it's time to practise and be patient.
one for the road … uhm … from the road … uhm … from the parking lot by the road … dumdidlday … and have a nice day
wonder what that means? i'm sure you can guess. and yes, there will be a second part soon 😀
rehearsed outside in t-shirt 4 months ago, now freezing inside in thick jumpers.
you can never have enough bodhráns, especially not at a workshop!
oh, yes, we also have a very cool bodhrán weekend in switzerland ... i did my first steps here as well (pictures from 2015 and 2013) ... this year from 22-24 march, as usual led by tom and rolf (by the way: on the 23rd "the pint" will give a short concert, followed by one of the huge sessions) ... more details on toms website bodhranweekend.ch

many possibilities ... too many ... finding a fitting name is surprisingly difficult ... you think you've finally found the perfect one, but then you start pondering again ... really not easy ... maybe this ... uuu… maybe that ... ooo… or how about ... aaa …
fortunately we are already very close to our goal and are already wondering what our logo should look like, but i wonder just now, how many of you have also gone through such a process.
our repertoire is growing. we are adding, rehearsing, deleting and fixing more and more. soon we will be ready to look for small stages (tips are already welcome). we are very excited about 2024 and wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
i looove my yellow fleece jacket … usually i prefer to wear black, but i love bright colors for winter jackets ... and i also love eye-catching sofas (once i had an oval one in bright orange)
snapshot from this evening (i am still amazed)
music: intro of my single "du, min schatz" (danny boy in swiss german)
amazing how fast time flie. it's been 10 years since the gig at club hey with my first band the "trousers of kilkenny". after a longer break, we are finally rehearsing again.
snapshot taken a month ago on nov. 15th in the bistro of Alte Kaserne Kulturzentrum in winterthur ("stelldichein" with markus). captured by a concertgoer (thanks for this pic), who created a great atmosphere with her "clique" and all the other guests. nice that you were all there. i'm already looking forward to the next "stelldichein" with another singer-songwriter.
oh yes, we always have a lot of fun
i'm really looking forward to the next rehearsal

a part of my second mandola
40 days ago ... unfortunately that's impossible now ... it's just too cold for a rehearsal in the car.
last week in the studio ... a new song will be released in january ... a "recycling" dialect song from 2002, which will be quite poppy … no irish folk this time, but there will be still something irish on board.
another reason why a rehearsal room would be a great thing. loud instruments wouldn't be so lonely.
unfortunately it's too cold now for such nice activities in this forest hut. i really wish i finally had my own rehearsal room
this is what it looked like … franci, me, markus and franz ... thanks again markusrueeger.com for your great songs. looking forward to your new album.
"my heart stayed in my ireland", written in july’21, performed at "stelldichein" in winterthur with (guitar) and guest musicians franz and (fiddle).
thanks for coming. it was so nice to be with you all.
here find another "eirischfouk" sample (irish folk song in dialect). thomas moore’s "the minstrel boy" from 1813, but with my swiss german lyrics from 2012 (picture from 2009: inis oírr, graveyard, saint caomhán).
oh, it was so lovely in winterthur (bistro Alte Kaserne Kulturzentrum) great location! great audience! great fellow musicians! thanks to you all.
